I remember a time when anything disparaging about W or Laura was tantamount to blasphemy in this forum.

I was kicked off another site because I quoted W after he gave a speech in Pennsylvania espousing the identical views of Bill Clinton on “equality for all.” LOL I was supportive of W when he was in the White House. And I found no reason to disparage Laura Bush except for her support of abortion.

From 2000-2004, most of us were just glad President Al Gore wasn’t in charge. By 2006, GWB was a huge embarrassment to conservatives.

But choices are limited. John Kerry in 2004? THAT would have sucked! I voted for Sarah Palin in 2008, viewing McCain as slightly better than Obama. The more we got to know Obama, the more repulsive he was. But...Mitt in 2012? Yeah, I voted for him and wanted him to win, but ONLY because Obama sucked so bad!

We finally got a real choice in 2016. And most senior Republicans from the last 30 years are PISSED that Jeb wasn’t the nominee!

As for Laura...pretty woman. Usually discrete enough in public. But I’d bet a ton of money she was pushing liberalism in the White House every chance she got.

“After more than eight years of silence on the controversial issues, Mrs. Bush said in an interview with CNN’s Larry KingTuesday, that gay marriage and abortion were points of contention with her husband, former President George W. Bush...The ex-first lady also told King she believes abortion should remain legal, an opinion she suggested she held on the President Bush’s first day in office in 2001. “

It was hard to imagine how bad it would have been under Gore, or Kerry but if we would have had one of them we wouldn’t have had Obama. The sad part is the next one would have likely been McCain.

And Karl Rove was known as a “magnificent bastard”.

I credit Palin and Trump for showing us the light.
