I don’t think the President will fire them until he knows he has a Senate who will approve a new AG. With McCain and Flake off the reservation, the position would default to whomever is currently 3rd in command at the DOJ. If the President is going to remove Sessions and Rosenstein, he wants to make sure his replacement will be approved, as that individual will also have to replace Wray at the FBI. The President only gets one shot at this and it has to be done correctly and decisively.

I think you’re right, but I can’t imagine that Mitch McConnell will be any help. I never understand why Kentuckians keep voting him in. He must really bring home the bacon.
