There is, however, no picture posted of the dog.

Usually there is a picture of the dog on someone’s facebook page.

Pardon me going off topic, but it seems every single article I read these days has garbled, mangled and simply unintelligible sentences like this one:

Terika George aid says she's been constantly crying and that she apologized to her baby "because I always take you with me."

I've seen several others already this morning. I'm guessing these are written be kids educated in public schools where grammar, punctuation, spelling and sentence diagramming are no longer taught.

It’s important to never completely trust any size dog alone with a baby or small child.

I don’t think a kid had much of a chance to survive in that family.

I have a friend who was a K-9 officer. His German shepherd was extremely well trained and disciplined. He left his toddler daughter and dog alone for seconds to stir a pot on the stove. Heard his daughter scream. Went in to find dog had bitten daughters face and caused pretty massive injuries despite it being probably a nip. Knew a girl who was visiting friends and had their lap dog in her lap petting him. Dog suddenly, with no provocation, jumped up and bit girl in the lip. She had to have plastic surgery to repair. Dogs are dogs. Sometimes they do dog things.

No “responsible” dog owner leaves a 5 month old were the dog has unsupervised access to it. Doesn’t matter if it is a miniature poodle.

I come from a “dog family” and, though I’m not a dog-whisperer for problem dogs, or what not, I have a lot of old common sense per these critters.

Though tragedies occur in the minority case, I wouldn’t risk it w/my kid. Never have a dog when you have an infant. You want stable-toddler at a minimum and make sure the kid actually feeds the dog at some point. Best is to not get one until the kid can actually walk the dog under control.

Dogs live by pack mentality. They need to know they are at the bottom of it in your house. When the dog is attempting to sort that out, even if it’s just aggressive play, it can kill your kid. Puppies know instinctively to stop moving when grabbed by the scruff of the neck. People aren’t wired that way.

Article short on details.

Dogs can’t be trusted with very young children.

Again, it’s not the breed. Pit Bulls are just the AR-15s of dogs.

We own and have bred Lhasa Apsos. Dog breeds can/do exhibit similar traits. Just like with humans, dogs can/do exhibit traits of their parents.

I can tell you that each dog has his own personality. To just blame a breed is not accurate.

Do more people get attacked by Pit Bulls than Lhasas?

You betcha. Does that mean ALL Pit Bulls are bad? NO!

ALL dogs can cause harm to very young children. Even Lhasa Apsos.

BAN AR-15s and PIT BULLS! Then we will all be safe. /s

Ridiculous!

Given the amount of dogs in this country this will happen and it is statistically one of the lowest causes of death. I would bet that if we controlled the dog kills humane statistics, for dogs owned by (insert your favorite class of violent and/or stupid people) and who encourage the same in their dog, the deaths would be near zero. This is similar to SIDS. It sadly happens but almost always with a back story.

I love dogs, but this type of creature is no dog, it is a Beast.

The dog should be executed along with its owner

I’ve had three serious attacks on my dogs, two by German Shepherds and one by a Pit. In both German Shepherd instances, I was able to intervene by voice command and kicking the attacker away, to which it responded (one was loose, the other dragged its owner, a small woman, along with it).

The Pit attack was direct and brutal, and the only way to stop it was to make it hurt back (it latched onto one of my dogs, and I went after its eyeballs, upon which it released).

Yes, German Shepherds (and Dobermans, although I don’t know personally) can be dangerous, but they can be defeated. When attacking, Pit Bulls are a menace.

In all of these cases (and also with less-dangerous dogs whose owners have let them off lead and have run after me and mine), the owners should not have these dogs.
