Back in the post World War II era, sponsoring a refugee meant finding them a place to live, a job and even providing temporary financial assistance from the coffers of your church, synagogue or other charity until they became self-sufficient.

Today, it means picking them up at the airport and driving them to the public welfare office so they can pick up a housing voucher, sign-up for all the benefits available and maybe even register to vote (Democrat) of course.
