My first Cutter was the CGC Cherokee (WMEC-165). An ex-Navy 205’ ocean going tug the Coast Guard painted white and cruised from Nova Scotia to the Yucatan Straights. She was setting on blocks, high and dry, in dry-dock at the Baltimore yards. 1988. Couldnt get out of there fast enough and back to home port in VA-Beach!
