WASHINGTON - The Trump administration is asking U.S. allies around the world to lower their level of oil imports from Iran to zero by November 4th of this year, a senior U.S. Official said on Tuesday.
The official added that the administration isn't planning to produce any waivers that will exclude certain countries or companies from this requirement.
"We are pushing allies to cut oil imports to zero by November," the senior official said. "We view this as one of our top national security priorities."
Talks on this demand have been ongoing for recent weeks, but the senior official said the U.S. has yet to receive commitments from major economic players such as China and India, who purchase large amounts of oil from Iran.
"We remain engaged, and we are going to continue to reach out to new countries and partners as the weeks go forward," the senior official explained. If the administration receives the cooperation of Asian and European allies on this issue, the result would be harsh for Iran's economy, which is already in a state of crisis.
The senior official said the U.S. was closely following demonstrations focused on Iran's troubled economy.

It’s a great move by President Trump, and will help the ailing American oil industry by raising oil prices and help our oil industry recover.
I don’t know that it will help the American oil industry. He just pressured OPEC to raise production levels.
you want he should do what? Nothing? while they sell oil to raise an army to attack infidels?
Bottom line: a screeching halt to the flow of payments to the regime, as already declining new contracts come to a complete halt. They totally depend on oil revenue.
Train wreck time for the regime seems to be this long hot Summer. All people have to do is lynch the mullahs. Anybody else in the palace will be able to get the oil flowing again.
The price of oil jumped to 70 dollars today..this must be why
It was $73 a few weeks ago.
Thanks Eddie01.
Stating the obvious:
...Oil is a fungible commodity.
IOW, we’ll still be burning Iranian oil, it’ll just wind up going through at least one other third country first.
The other side of this coin is that us and our allies will benefit by the increased sales required to keep prices level.
Somewhere in the back of my mind is Tora Tora Tora and the apanese reaction to the FDR embargo on Japan. After being cut off the problem was studied and it was determined that everything needed was available in the East Asian Greater Prosperity Sphere.
By conquering it all, the problem was solved. The error was attacking Pearl Harbor
Not being dumb, the mullahs will reach a similarconclusion. Trump et al have made the decision that before the mullahs can get it together and act, they will be overthrown.
Those two sentences are future history
