It costs money to keep a place closed as well. Taxes, insurance, maybe rent ....like a construction company with a leased backhoe and no job to send it to.

Again, just like my Dad's wholesale frozen foods business. Had to keep the freezers running at the proper temp 24/7 The electric bills from Con Ed were YYUUGE, even back in those days.
