Not any more. After this month the union dues will no longer be automatically collected from employee paychecks and that will be the end of Union/Dem political dominance in California.
While I don’t expect the Dems to lose control in the fall I do expect them to lose their supermajorities in the CA legislature this fall.
They may even have a GOP governor for 2019!
Who knows? California just might be saved.
The right to be forced to pay for a voice that they may not actually agree with.
One thing I learned from the media's coverage of Donald Trump is that it is a terrible and shocking threat to democracy to criticize the judiciary in any way. I will wait for their outrage at this statement by the SEIU.

I wonder if they also happen to pay about $6100 less per year in union dues?

How much money per month will members save by not paying dues? I’ll bet it’s a handsome sum. How much will they save by the November election?
If the unions lose confidence that the dems will capture Congress, they may decide to be very picky about whose campaign they fund in 2018.

It originally was “Janitors for Justice” in Northern California.
Now the founder has setup SEIU International.

I’ve always suspected that USA funds for Katrina were funneled into SEIU but can’t seem to prove it.

Next year we head into bargaining with the state. During our last collective bargaining, we negotiated the largest contract in the history of the State of California. Our contract included an across the board 11.5% pay increase and a $2,500 bonus. Together we won a host of working condition benefits like a pathway to end mandatory overtime, increased opportunities for upward mobility and mechanisms to address discrepancies in the cost of living throughout our state.
These victories were the result of a strong, active membership and the work of thousands of members and leaders who stood strong in the face of adversity to fight for their families.

They are so screwed. Who would pay union dues given the choice? Moron? Rich person working in a union job? Membership in public unions is going to be in free fall.
