I have no doubt. It won't be on geographic lines, though. We're talking street fighting in each state between urban, suburban and rural elements.

I (highly) doubt this.

No way.

The Left live mainly in places like government and academia, or other areas fed by cheap money and debt.

They would simply disappear if we switched to a gold standard, rather than a fiat, printed-money debt standard, courtesy of the Federal Reserve. Government would shrink rapidly, and progressivism would simply die of starvation.

Not sure what a civil war would look like, but I’ll know it when I see it.

It will be both. I don't see much of a chance of "street fighting" in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Utah, Wyoming and much of the mid west and mountain states. Don't be ridiculous.

Who’s the idiot that thought up the question in the first place?

I rather expect a low grade continuing conflict that consists of mob actions turning into armed mob actions and assassinations/bombings that will continue and get worse until one side or another takes power a la South American Juntas. I do believe that the Republic is on its last legs because we do not have a population that can support it. In a few years, maybe a very few years, we will be hoping for a Ruler on our side and will suffer greatly if the other side takes the crown. It will be the same for the other side.

One side better understands that it entails more than a violent protest followed by a comfy airconditioned bus ride home (with a reefer of two).

Real ‘war’ is a horror they cannot yet fathom.

This compares to 53% and 28% respectively in the spring of Obama’s second year in office.

We had violence before Trump was even inaugurated. Whereas Tea Party rallies were peaceful and cleaned up after themselves. Delusional Democrats.

I believed for some time that the 2nd American Civil War (or Revolution) would be in the 2030s. Then I concluded that a Hillary Clinton Presidency could accelerate it to the 2020s. A liberal woman that I know from church opined right after the election that it could happen on Trump's watch. I wanted to disagree, but was sober enough to concede the point.

I was hoping that The Donald could forestall the coming war but pushing back and pausing the political rot and dysfunction. But I underestimated the psychosis of American Progressives. They may indeed revolt openly.

As I look back at the original American Civil War, I can see that one side believed that it could not count on the constitutional processes to get political results that they could accept. The American Left is facing a similar situation today. If they can't accept losing under the rules in place, they may indeed decide that revolution is the answer.

For what it is worth, I also have a pet theory called the Cruz Counterfactual. Suppose that The Donald had to bow out before the 2016 GOP Convention. Ted Cruz had the 2nd highest delegate count. What would the Left's reaction have been to a Cruz presidency? I submit that we would still have seen most of the crap we have seen in the Trump era. (In fact, I think that Comey's Crooked Cops would have still rigged the Servergate investigation because they probably can't abide Ted Cruze either.)

Congress has the power to dispose of the territory of the US.

Independent nations can be created by two majority votes and Trump’s signature.

Los Angeles and San Francisco can be given back to Mexico.
