Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Wednesday touted his Republican colleague Sen. Mike Lee (Utah) as the "best choice" to fill the Supreme Court vacancy created by Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement announcement.

"I think the single best choice President Trump could make to fill this vacancy is Sen. Mike Lee," Cruz said on Fox News shortly after Kennedy's announcement. "I think he would be extraordinary."

[ Mike Lee is a true constitutionalist/originalist and would make an absolutely unwavering conservative justice.

Do your homework on the man and you might think twice about making silly knee jerk comments that have no basis in fact.

BTW, Lee (as well as Cruz) have not always been blindly supportive of Donald Trump but they certainly cannot accurately be construed as “never Trumper’s”. ]

I think Lee and Cruz’s Biggest mistake was listening to “Glenn Bleak” when it came to Trump.

They thought Trump was his personality that Trump developed, Trump is rumored to have stated once that the hardest thing he ever learned to do was “How to be shallow”. They were buying into his persona vs. the man himself and his actions/results. Trump’s Dad was a big supporter of the JBS and Donald respected his father very much, based off of Trump’s actions as president Trump is very much in the John Birch Society camp on a LOT of things.

Mike Lee is a solid constitutionalist. He has written books about how Roberts was wrong on the Obamacare decision, has written against Roe v. Wade, etc. His dad was solicitor general under Reagan.

He is not going to be some squish on the bench.

OK, let’s say, for the sake of argument, that confirmability is very important, and that the tea leaves say Lee is confirmable and no on else is, at least until January.

My question, for those who know him, is,
“Is he acceptable”? If he is nominated and confirmed, he will be with us for a LONG time.

Aren’t you one of the original Cruzlims? If not the original Cruzlim.

I’ve done my homework on the man, and I know he has no judicial record to review. He also voted for Evan McMuffin, which tells me he was just fine with losing a presidential election to Hillary Clinton, thus he is too stupid to be considered to even mow my lawn, or anything else.

PASS!

Mike Lee has a wacky libertarian streak that will transmute into liberal within 5 years of being appointed a Supreme Court Justice. Lee will burn us like David Souter. NO THANKS!

Trump needs to give America another SC Justice like Neil Gorsuch.

Ha, ha. Cruz just wants to eliminate a possible contender for the next presidential race. No way, Bub.

Nothing you say detracts from the fact that Lee is a never trumper, voted for mcmullen and has ZERO chance.

Nor does your defense of cruz detract from the fact that cruz called trump a psychopath, didnt get on the trump train until a movement among trump people to run someone against him. He is an opportunist, to say the least. Yeah, its nice that NOW he supports Trump, we will see how supportive he is once he is reelected and not in fear of losing his seat.

Nope, no Lee. He blew it and does not deserve that appointment. There are other good people on the list.

#nevertrumpers cannot be trusted.

Ted Cruz would be a better choice to fill the seat.

Cruz really did teach law, and he is only 48 yrs old!

Save your bile for the George Will, David Frum, Bill Kristol, Jonah Goldberg etc of the bonafide “never Trumper’s.

Thanks, sometimes you just get tired of the BS from some of these people.

I have been totally supportive of Donald Trump since he won the nomination and the Presidency. One only has to check my posting history to verify that fact.

I don’t call people names and I try my best to make informed as well as supportable comments unlike many unfortunately that have chosen to post on this forum.

I hate to say it but the average IQ of the people posting on this forum has dropped some 20 points since I first joined 14 years ago.

There are plenty of Trump likers who who are conservative too. I believe Trump will not choose a so called conservative #nevertrumper.

No Idiot boy Cruz- we don’t need to risk losing another senate seat!! Keep Lee in the Senate- go for perhaps Alberto Gonzales instead...

Strategic error. We don’t need to risk any Senate seats.

Who would replace him?

Would that person be able to keep the seat?

If we can’t hold a Republican seat in Utah.....we have much more serious problems to worry about.
