America's gun problem, explained(OK?!)
vox.com ^ | 6/29/2018 | German Lopez

This has become an American routine: After every mass shooting, the debate over guns and gun violence starts up once again. Maybe some bills get introduced. Critics respond with concerns that the government is trying to take away their guns. The debate stalls. So even as America continues experiencing levels of gun violence unrivaled in the rest of the developed world, nothing happens — no laws are passed by Congress, nothing significant is done to try to prevent the next horror.

So why is it that for all the outrage and mourning with every mass shooting, nothing seems to change? To understand that, it's important to grasp not just the stunning statistics about gun ownership and gun violence in the United States, but America's very unique relationship with guns — unlike that of any other developed country — and how it plays out in our politics to ensure, seemingly against all odds, that our culture and laws continue to drive the routine gun violence that marks American life.

The PROBLEM is that the author refuses to see the difference between aggressive and defensive gun use.
Yes, refuses.
I don't think he is incapable of seeing it, he deliberately ignores the obvious difference and conflates all gun use as the bad kind. Just to make his point.

“...unlike that of any other developed country ...”

should read:

“..unlike EVERY other country that does not, through its own founding documents of governance, protect the inalienable rights of its citizens...”

there, fixed it.

Oh yeah. Name all of the countries that guarantee their citizens the right to KABA won’t be infringed upon by the govt. There are none. ;-)

our culture and laws continue to drive the routine gun violence that marks American life.

Odd, how that didn’t happen until the rise of
Progressive-ism/socialism in the last 100 years.

For about the forty-leventh freakin' time: CRIMINALS DO NOT OBEY LAWS! So you'd only be disarming the law-abiding.

You flood in illegals by the tens of millions. You bring in 2 million moslems since 9/11m including the skinnies from Blackhawk Down. You give guns to the cartels. You let BLM run wild gunning down cops. You let antifa do any terror it pleases.
You get everyone under 35 infested with a genocidal hatred of white males...like me.
You have a third of the kids in school dazed on ritalin, anti-depressants, opioids and SSRIs. You teach them that tickling each others poophole is the highest civil right and a virtue. Cutting off Mr. Johnson makes you some kind of high priest in their wacked-out cult.
You openly speak of genocide and start pre-genocidal activities such as tearing down statues and monuments, classifying and labeling the target group. Spree shooting have become a national sport of marginalized and doped up young males. The Military is filled with deviants. The intelligence community just tried to overthrow the government and is the most invasive in human history, including the Stasi, NKVD, or Gestapo.

All this and you think I’m going to give up my guns?

So why is it that for all the outrage and mourning with every mass shooting, nothing seems to change?

Because every mass shooting, the left rushes forwards with bundles of irrelevant proposals, mixed with a surge of counter-productive proposals, and prevents progress of anything useful - in attempt to get things through before anyone can figure out how dumb they are.

School shootings - the left seeks to not only prevent any robust defense in depth, but degrade existing depth and open up new pathways for miscreants.

Business shootings - the left seeks to shame and tort businesses from allowing defense of their property.

Meanwhile, the left incites conflict and violence as means to overcome disagreement, keeps its' adherents frenzied in their own reality, and emotional response to the environment.

Synbolism is more important to liberals than concrete objects.

“So why is it that for all the outrage and mourning with every mass shooting, nothing seems to change?”

Because the pusillanimous elite weenies don’t match up well against 100 million armed Americans. Besides, America has erected lampposts from sea to shining sea.
