A group of House Armed Services Committee Democrats is demanding answers from the Pentagon on why it is backing away from its annual Pride celebration.
We write to express our concern that Pentagon leadership is backing away from supporting and celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) service members and Department of Defense (DoD) employees, the eight Democrats wrote in a letter to Defense Secretary James Mattis. The fight for dignity and inclusion for LGBT individuals in our Armed Forces should remain a steadfast priority for the Department of Defense.
The letter was organized by Rep. Anthony Brown (D-Md.).
This year, for the first time since the 2011 repeal of Dont Ask, Dont Tell, the Pentagon did not issue a memo officially recognizing June as Pride Month. Without the official recognition, the Pentagons Office of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity did not issue posters and other materials to mark the occasion as it has done in the past.
The Pentagons LGBT employee group did hold its annual celebration earlier this month. No senior official was on stage, though Army Sgt. Maj. Daniel Dailey and Vee Penrod, acting secretary for manpower and reserve affairs, attended.
The low-key celebration came as the Trump administrations attempt to ban transgender service members continues to be fought in court.

ALL Dems Obsess about is KILLING BABIES and Putting your JUNK where it doesn’t belong!! What a Party!
Insane commie RATS are in no position to “demand” anything from anybody.
The U.S. military should not to be used as some kind of political fodder.
When is straight white male pride month?
Cheese and whine
The priority is to defend the country, not to endorse a destructive pattern of conduct, despite what LGBLT advocates say.
I don’t think rainbow patterned
camo is going to work well.
Let them keep asking
it’s amazing that in 25 years we’ve gone from what two consenting adults do together in their own bedroom is nobody’s business to bow before the altar of perversity genuflect before it
No government agency has any business promoting Pride Month. If private citizens want to promote perversion, they can do so on their own time.
The reason they did not observe it is because Trump told them not too, so you would whine to high heaven about a 2% group, and Trumps numbers would tick up some more.
Winning and winning not whining and whining.
I don’t think there is any way I could survive today’s military. My days as a GI are long past
Good. Put the dykes and queers on full ignore.
The answer is they don’t have to give an answer. The Pentagon has nothing to do with gays trying to make themselves think they are all right.
Answer: We wish them well, but there’s nothing to celebrate.
Exactly, they can do whatever the hell they want to in the bedroom, but it’s nothing that needs to be celebrated.
Maybe the proclamation can be printed on the backside of the documentation Rosenstein is holding up.
