When the push for "same sex marriage" started in MA, it was for civil unions. The argument made sense for primary caregiver legal rights and care of minor children if needed. It would make sense in situations that had nothing to do with if a couple is gay. ie: having a best friend instead or a greedy child being in charge of legal and medical decisions.
It made sense to me. The government shouldn't be marrying anyone, only granting legal rights. Let Churches and social organizations do the marrying, and have a legal document to create the civil union.
Then, gays got that, and radicals went nuts with their actual agenda which is destroying family and normal social order.
