Collins: I Will Not Support a Nominee Who Demonstrated Hostility to Roe V. Wade

Sen. Susan Collins (R., Maine) said on Sunday that any nominee for the Supreme Court that had demonstrated hostility to Roe V. Wade would not receiver her support.

CNN host Jake Tapper asked Collins about how President Donald Trump expressed desire to nominate justices who may vote to overturn Roe V. Wade if offered the opportunity. Collins, who supports Roe V. Wade, is a key vote in the Senate, where Republicans only have a one vote majority in the chamber.

"With all due respect, the Supreme Court, as we know, it overturns its own rulings all the time," Tapper said. "It has overruled more than 200 of its own decisions, once just last week and it is a stated goal of President Trump and Vice President Pence to appoint Supreme Court justices who will vote to overturn Roe Versus Wade. whether they said it on the campaign trail or they say it now, it's almost immaterial, it's a stated goal."

Abortion is the only choice that the left thinks we should have. It's too bad that we let them control the language. If they won't call us pro-life, but say anti-abortion, we should be able to call them pro abortion instead of pro choice.

School choice is certainly not on their list.

Each individual state would decide on abortion if the “kill baby Right” was blotted from the decisions of the USSC.

Would it be so horrible if Kansas or Mississippi decided that abortion can only happen up to 12 weeks of gestation? Or Wyoming voters decided that abortion is illegal?

She is a racist. Look at how abortion has kept the black population under control. It’s not about choice it’s about racial supremacy.

There is no intellectual defense of Roe v. Wade. The left doesn’t even really try anymore. Susan Collins is a twit.

Think our Lord and Savior will forgive her???

If she repents. But unless it's a death bed conversion her repentance should be as public as her defiance of Him.

While I never heard that from any lib I knew as a teacher in NYC schools, I cannot count the number of times I heard welfare defended as a means of keeping blacks and hispanics from rioting and making the city unlivable.

“Overturning Roe v Wade would only return the control of abortion to the states. Collins obviously prefers federal control over states rights, which is really what this is.”

It should be overturned on these grounds alone and not on what somebody’s ideas are on the morality of the thing. Abortion in some form or another would almost surely survive in most if not all of the states.

Despite all the political rhetoric, all of these Republicans voted to confirm Gorsuch. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time a GOP senator voted against confirming a Supreme Court justice nominated by a Republican president.
