Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rocked the Democratic Party on last Tuesday after she toppled New York Congressman Joe Crowley. The millennial identifies as a Democratic Socialist and, as would be expected, she became an overnight media darling. Since socialism has led to the poverty and suffering of millions of people around the world, there’s no wonder many people fear its horrific effects. But on Sunday’s Meet the Press on NBC, moderator Chuck Todd let the young Congresswoman-elect define the ideology on her terms.
“Let me talk about some of your policy positions but generally. First, explain this to me. You were endorsed by a group, the Democratic Socialists,” Todd prefaced in the middle of the interview. “What is your definition of democratic socialist?” He also boasted to her about how The New York Times had a headline touting millennials turning to socialism.
As what often happens when a Democrat is asked to define socialism in non-scary and untruthful terms, she stumbled out of the gate:
Well, for me, again, and – and – there’s so much focus on this endorsement, but I also think it's important -- an important part of my strategy in winning was building a broad-based coalition of people. So while there is a focus on this one aspect of the coalition, and to me, you know, to answer your question, the definition of democratic socialism, to me, again, is the fact that in a modern, moral, and wealthy society, no American should be too poor to live.

She should be called a “National Democratic Socialist” at every opportunity, over and over and over. And then do it again. Weld that term to her name.

I’ve seen two interviews of her. I would suggest that she lives in a ‘bubble’ and only associates with like-minded people. So her vast knowledge level is kinda limited.
Another thing you notice....her entire career so far....has been community organizer (the barry-path). Unless someone in the NY Democratic circle blocks her way, I think she’ll be a Senator in less than six years (probably replacing Schumer).
She is not yet Congresswoman-elect. She needs to win the general first (which no doubt she will)

First time I heard her (on the radio) I thought they were interviewing a middle-school girl, with all the intellectual content that implies.

That will no doubt work well in NY-14 and other heavily first generation latino's/Puerto Rican populated districts across the country, those will however be niche wins.
I saw the interview this morning and parts of it were just jaw dropping. She admitted to being a "democrat socialist" among other things, nothing of which had anything to do with how our Government was founded and based upon which is a Constitutional Republic.
No doubt in my mind she's going to win that district and I hope she keeps shooting her stupid mouth off all the way to November. Clearly her victory has rattled Nancy Pelosi too who today said she's a "Progressive" herself, ROFL!

There's something in the capitalist system that busts out the argument of the Marxist scam. It's called the middle class. The Marxist go-to strategy is to pit the poor class against the rich class. Capitalism defeats that argument by way of a middle class. You can go from the poor class to the middle class in a capitalist system fairly easily. A simple decent paying trade job can accomplish that. Brick layer, carpenter, electrician. You don't need an expensive college education. Either on-the-job training or an inexpensive trade course certification. And then once that generation enters the middle class, their children can very realistically enter the upper middle class by way of affordable comunity college education. And so on, up the ladder. And even all the way to the rich class in just a couple generations. The middle class is a bridge in the capitalist system and effectively destroys the Marxist argument.
The middle class is working, paying their taxes, and are relatively happy citizens. And the middle class is by far the largest class of citizens in capitalist America. The challenge for the Marxist scammers is to convince the fairly happy majority that they aren't really happy.
The most opportunistic field of operation for Marxists would be where a vast poor class to rich class chasim exists. In lieu of that, in a modern capitalist society like America where pretty much the average person is comfortable and happy, they must sew division by any means. Stirring racial dischord is pretty much their only hope. And that is what they are banking on.
