Amen

The containment camps can be built in that zone.

Those that do not want to be contained within the tent city can just leave through the southern gateways.

Mexico is powerless to prevent the temporay annexation made necessary as a matter of national security.

Well, now that Mexico is going to be a socialist utopia, I don’t suppose we’ll be needing that wall. No one will want to leave. I mean I bet they’re going to have to build a wall to keep Americans out. /sarc

Here's something bizarre. The "far left" Obrador won the election by being on a fusion ticket with the Social Encounter Party (PES) in Mexico.

THAT party is considered very conservative:

The PES tends to include many strands of Christian humanist thinking and is generally socially conservative, though Flores has stated that it is a "family" party. The Baja California state party uses a stylized ichthus in its logo, which is not used by the national organization.

The party characterizes itself as the "party of the family". It opposes same-sex marriage and was responsible for reforms to the Baja California constitution in 2008 that established marriage as "between one man and one woman". In 2015, the PES gubernatorial candidate in the state of San Luis Potosí compared homosexuality to drug trafficking and violence. Likewise, it opposes abortion and pornographic magazines.

Other proposals made by the PES include shifting the collection of value-added tax to the states instead of the federal government and consolidating it with income tax.

Unlike other Mexican parties, PES expresses outright support for Israeli settlements on the West Bank.

The party is primarily composed of evangelical Christians, though it has declared itself as "not religious" in character <<

Obrador's platform this time around actually sounds MORE conservative under the "far far left MORENO" than it did when he was part of the "far left" PDR (and the "far left" PDR is itself now in a coalition with the "conservative" PAN)

Aside from some obviously socialist planks like Obadar promising "free" education for all, amnesty for drug criminals, and wealth redistriction, he's promising some good ideas like rethinking NAFTA, building more oil refineries, austerity measures on politicians' salaries, including the President's salary and post-presidential pension, and decentralization of the federal cabinet.

Of course this could all be BS, like FDR running as a fiscal conservative in 1930s.

Honestly, Mexican politics make no sense to me, with the "conservative" PAN sounding like Obama and being WORSE than the PRI (and most of the PAN supporters in the U.S. being loyal Democrats), while the "far left" parties there are proposing several decent conservative reforms (for example, the Mexican Green Party is the ONLY party there that wants to get tough on crime and bring back the death penalty for murderers. The Mexican "conservatives" oppose that)

This is bad. How long until the Cartels openly admit they control Mexico? Mexico will follow the way of Venezuela and the morons on the left side of history will say we have to accept Mexican refugees. I do hope the Mexican Military is not totally corrupt. They may be the saviors of their nation.

That may have been a mistranslation.

He said he's going to defend those who he says "must abandon their towns to seek a life in the United States."

But he wasn't saying to them, "You must go to the United States."

So, sure, he's no friend to Trump, but he didn't quite say what he's been reported as saying.

As in a lot of countries, political rhetoric doesn't match up with what politicians do in office. In Mexico corruption is usually involved and little goes the way it's been planned.

With PAN, if you're an entrepreneurial Mexican in the Northern provinces, you might relish a little tweaking of the US eagle, a little hostility to the big brother to the North, who you may actually resemble some what. PRI, whose base is further to the South may not have had those concerns.

With PES, it sounds like they are feeling their way between European Christian Democracy and American Evangelicalism, not sure who they really are. What moved them to support MORENA may have been a feeling of deep national crisis, or maybe disgust with PRI.

All this is guesswork on my part, but I don't know if anybody really knows the reasons for some of the strange alliances in politics.

All America's leftists should head on down. The country is able to be molded to whatever vision they have, there's no snow...have at it.

They were interviewing the chairman of PES, he was saying basically saying Obrador was the "only chance we have in my lifetime" of really shaking up the political system in Mexico and destroying the status quo, so they had no choice to get on his bandwagon and help him win, so he'd owe them political favors for it and Obrador will be forced to enact some conservative policies and appoint some conservative cabinet members in order to have a governing majority.

He raises some valid points, I think Vicente Fox's "conservative reformer" government was a joke (and so was his "more conservative" successor Felipe Calderon), seeing as he was supposed to be the Mexican version of Ronald Reagan and Lech Walesa, but ended up being the Mexican version of Slick Willie (a smooth talking "pro-buisness" sleazy horndog leftist liar)

Still, getting into an alliance with a freakin' communist wackjob is the most deranged hail mary pass I've heard of. Bizarrely, it seems to have worked pretty well in helping PES win seats in Obardor's coattails. The latest projection shows them winning 55 seats, and the faux conservative PAN is only at 41.

In related news, all the U.S. conservatives embracing the mainstream media's Orwellian "red state" propaganda should be pleased that worldwide Mexican election coverage maps are showing that Obardor "made Mexico into a red state"

PAN hasn’t been in power the past 6 years, PRI has, though I’m sure voters remember PAN’s tenure which is why they took the third (turd) option.

Things have gotten weird in Mexico

Obrador leaving PRD to found his own party (MORENA, sounds like an IUD)

PRD allying with PAN for some reason, not running their own Pres Candidate

PRI is allied with that “Green Conservative” party that I would expect to be allied with PAN.

And this PES you mention that I never heard of before allying with MORENA. Though Wikipedia does call them “third position” (Fascist?) so their economic position might not be incongruous with Obrador’s. PES btw will have few if any seats in Congress, they seemed to have won about 2% of the vote for House and Senate, far below PAN.

I was gonna regret that they didn’t have runoffs but it looks like he’s gonna clear 50% anyway. Latest count on Wiki has him at 53%, and inched ahead in Nuevo Leon, leaving Anaya (PAN) with a plurality in only 1 state, Guanajuato.

IIRC in the past Obie expressed regret at so many people leaving Mexico but I’m sure that’s changed. I don’t believe for a minute this commie will be better in any way. PRI and PAN needed to ally. I hope we don’t have another Chavez on our hands.

Well, the difference is that if this Obrador pulls some Chavezista $hit, he won’t have a Step’n Fetchit President (including both Zero AND Shrub) that will cower to their demands. Trump WILL forcefully respond.

But the Mexican political alignments are utterly meshuggah.
