Erwin is just outside of the city of Corning, but it is real country, not far from the PA border. I peddled bread all along the old Route 17 (now 417, I think) from Wellsville on the west to Corning on the east. Some of this in Steuben is the upper reaches of Appalachia. A lot of our best Army Infantry and Marines have come from this region. Farm boys and small villages.
I know the area...Did infusion and Nursing Home care out that way(based from Horseheads/Elmira and Binghamton). Real God’s country. Once was a good religious Network Radio group, Family Life Network out of Bath...don’t know if it’s still operating.
