Take away the end point Consumer Taxes and a Gallon of Gas costs the same as a Gallon of Milk.
Gee, I wonder which product is cheaper and easier to produce?
My Father had a Gas Station in the 60’s. He had Customers complain when Gasoline hit $.32.9 a Gallon.

It’s feasible for me to produce milk in my backyard, gasoline not so much.

I remember buying gas for 28.9 cents a gallon - now 7-9 times that depending on the fluctuations....bought a Camaro in '74 for $4K - now 10 times or more to buy one. Dad bought a 3-bedroom split level in '62 for $13.5K - same house in that area now 15-20 times that.
Everyone hates paying more for everything and they see the gas prices as they fluctuate more than any other prices of items they may buy because it's on signs all over the place as they drive...as it is, even though I prefer $2 gas, $3 ain't outrageous.
