I love it! The president hasnt officially named Justice Kennedys replacement yet, and predictably the left is going bonkers attacking any and all people on the presidents list of potential nominees. I wish he had put every federal judge nominated and confirmed during the Reagan and the two Bush presidencies on his potential list, so we could watch the left and MSM wasting time and resources attacking hundreds of judges, and going hysterical trying to figure out who it is. The president already has his nominee and he or she is already being vetted behind the scenes. I bet Judge Barrett is not the choice, but it is sure fun watching the left chase its tail while insulting millions of Catholics in the process, not realizing or caring that many Catholics happen to be Democrats!
Remember when they used this same tactic on Sarah Palin? Groan. Of course they’ll NEVER say one worth about the Democrat “spirit cooking”
Not all of them. Just the Reagan Democrat deserters, in the eyes of the Left. The Hispanics haven't deserted yet, so they are NOT a cult as of today.
If they go after Barrett for being a practicing Catholic woman, that will NOT play well with swing votes in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana or Ohio. (The northeast has plenty of Catholics, but they are too far gone).
I don’t believe anything from Slate.
Wrong. Being a Muslima would be celebrated by the Left. And asking her her opinion of Shari’a law would be bigotry.
Back in the 60-70’s, their was a huge movement in the midwest due primarily to Billy Graham.
For a long time, Minneapolis was the center until several key churches collapsed.
I still remember JP...they could really pack them into the State Theater in Minneapolis.
So a New York Times article and a blooger there are get to slander Amy as in a “teligious cult”??
Aparently you can in todays secular humanist orthodxy describe any religious community seeking to be a not-storcictly-physically-connected community, instead of a mere religious association, can be branded a “cult”. Certainly on those terms our earliest Christians were a “cult”.
Yup,called a “cult” by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
She may or may not be selected, and if selected may or may not be confirmed, but the slander already begins.
The article linked to basically says it is not a cult, or anything even resembling one.
Feinstein already has already gone after her when she told Amy Coney Barrett that she was “too Catholic.”
So far I'm not sold on Amy, however this "news" does nothing to tarnish her image. On the contrary, is is admirable that she associates with traditional believers such as herself.
The charismatic movement was at its zenith when I attended Notre Dame in the 1970s; they once had a Mass and religious rally that drew a very large crowd to Notre Dame Stadium in the mid 1970s. I ran with that group (did not know that they used the name “People of Praise”) for about a year.
I also encountered Opus Dei at Notre Dame; now as then, they operate a residence for men, Windmoor House, on Notre Dame Avenue, a couple of blocks south of campus. I attended a retreat they put on when I was a freshman in 1972.
I’m really rooting for President Trump to nominate Judge Barrett to the Supreme Court. She has a number of intangibles that in my view make her the “front runner”, in addition to being a brilliant woman and mother of seven children; Trump’s white house counsel, Don McGahn, came from Jones Day; Jones Day are outside counsel to the University of Notre Dame; McGahn is an ND alumnus; the one time managing partner of Jones Day, Patrick McCartan, was also the chairman of the board of trustees of ND; Joe Donnelly, ‘Rat from Indiana, is a double domer (meaning he got degrees from both the undergraduate and law schools at ND); Joe’s wife Jill (a classmate of mine and an extremely nice person) has been a career employee at ND, and has served (and may still serve) as a fund raiser for the Notre Dame Law School. I can’t see how Joe votes against Amy. I also can’t see how Heidi Heitkamp and Claire McCaskill vote against her; anti-Catholic bias will absolutely destroy any chance that either of these two have of being re-elected.
That's a lot of people. Hardly a Jim Jones style cult.
Slate found out that the leader of the group is not politically conservative.
Charismatics tend not to be religious right
Catholics are a cult......I knew it!

Im not the first to notice am I?
But her religious views is a moot point.
According to Article VI of the U.S. Constitution “...but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”
Oh wait, I forgot with whom we are dealing here.
Sorry./s
