Klayman Supports Barrett for SCOTUS Seat, Says Democrats Are "Trying to Smear Her"
newsmax.com ^ | 7/3/18 | Newsmax

Posted on 07/04/2018 1:45:54 AM PDT by a little elbow grease

Judicial Watch's founder and conservative former federal prosecutor Larry Klayman supports Chicago Circuit Court Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill a soon-to-be vacated Supreme Court seat — but thinks Democrats are “already trying to smear her.”

Klayman said he likes that Barrett — reportedly one of President Donald Trump’s leading contenders for nomination — is not a graduate of either Harvard or Yale law schools.

“From what I’ve read about her, I like Judge Barrett,” Klayman said. “She's obviously a woman. That’s good. Politically it’s going to be hard for the Democrats to have much objection to her. But they’re already trying to smear her” over her Catholic faith.

Klayman supports Chicago Circuit Court Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the Supreme Court seat — but thinks Democrats are “already trying to smear her over her Catholic faith.”

Klayman said he likes that Barrett ... is not a graduate of either Harvard or Yale law schools.

He also blasted Dianne Feinstein for her criticism of Barrett in 2017 when she went before the Senate Judiciary Committee after she was appointed by Trump to the Court of Appeals. At the time, Feinstein questioned whether Barrett’s religion would have any impact on her rulings from the bench. “It’s a bigoted statement,” he said. “It’s unbelievable that this would be raised by Dianne Feinstein. John F. Kennedy wouldn’t have been president if people had opposed him on his Catholic faith.”

Klayman also railed at lower courts that repeatedly knocked down Trump’s travel ban.

“The president has lost it nearly every lower court level. And he's won consistently in front of the Supreme Court… what it tells me is that you’ve got a lot of leftist hack judges at the lower court level.”

“Poor Schumer...Dems must be really p***** cuz if he hadn’t filibustered Gorsuch, they’d still have the super majority card to play. “

It was an idiotic move. Gorsuch did not change the balance. So why use biggest weapon and lose it? I suppose they so angry after they went through the trouble of having Scalia killed for naught they weren’t thinking clearly.

The Dems hate Catholics and conservative women.

Heck, most Catholics are democrats. And in this country, soon most Catholics will be Mexicans.

I like Klayman a lot but I think he is being naïve on this point. The democrats will make up something to smear her. It’s absolutely guaranteed.

"Stay clear of Barrett. A law professor at Notre Dame, a very liberal college that even covered religious statues to please Obama. Little or no record of her decisions from the bench."

_______________

I may agree. But may I add .....

Yesterday I was thinking that maybe Trump would nominate her to eventually watch her be a sacrificial lamb" to the sick Dems.' hatred.

In that way, she would not be nominated, Trump then could easily point out how religiously ILL the liberals are........... and he WINS again.

Then he nominates someone who he really wants.

(Just a guess.)

Slightly different concern. Prior to Gorsuch, we had 6 Catholics and 3 Jews on the USSC-—but not a single “mainstream” Protestant.

This is significant, for the American Protestant churches were the foundation of the US, remain the overwhelming majority religion of the U.S., and yet have zero representation on the Court. Barrett would be another Catholic.

Were the “quota” people to be taken into consideration, five of the justices should be non-Anglican/Episcopalian Protestants. (Anglicanism and Episcopalianism are top-down in their governance, while most of the other Protestant churches are congregational, i.e., bottom up. I think this DOES at some point play a part in how one views the constitution. “Top-downers” tend to side with the federal government.)

A good clue as to her worth can be judged by how much the Democrats try to smear her. She sounds like a good choice.

I really did not understand all that.

Do you think she'll be nominated?

I tend to think that her chances of being nominated are about as high as the Pittsburgh Pirates having an intelligent lineup any time soon.

;-)

Sounds like she’s an excellent wife to Jesse, a devoted mother and a very impressive judge.

"It has occurred to me that she may be senile with dementia. She may be refusing to retire because she does not have good judgment."

________

No ..... I don't think she's "senile with dementia". She has the judgment ...... her judgment is to outlast the bastard Conservatives.

“She is a beloved teacher who has three times been voted Notre Dame’s “Outstanding Professor of the Year” by graduating classes. Adrian Vermeule, a professor of constitutional law at Harvard and noted critic of the originalist judicial philosophy with which Barrett has been associated, told me that he is almost frightened of her. “I lectured on my last book at Notre Dame and she asked the absolute sharpest, most penetrating questions. She is scary smart.”

I’m sure Justice Ginsburg expects to be on the bench for as long as she’s breathing.

Recall when Sandra Day O’Connor was nominated, they had us believing she was the second coming. What a dud she turned out to be. There is something about the water along the beltway.
