Allegations that Rep. Jim Jordan failed to stop a team doctor from sexually abusing student athletes when the Ohio Republican was a college wrestling coach is complicating his possible bid for Speaker of the House.
The NBC News story dropped Tuesday just as Jordan began reaching out to GOP colleagues, urging them to ditch Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and instead back him for the top job in the House GOP conference.
Jordan, 54, the powerful founding chairman of the ultra-conservative Freedom Caucus, has not formally announced a bid for Speaker but has said he plans to be “part of the discussion” in the race to replace retiring Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) after the fall midterm elections.
Three former wrestlers at Ohio State University (OSU) told NBC News that Dr. Richard Strauss, who died in 2005, sexually molested teammates when he served as the team doctor from the mid-1970s to the late 1990s. It would have been impossible for Jordan not to have known about the abuse, the wrestlers told the news outlet.

“For Jimmy to know that this was going on and not do anything about it, it wouldn’t happen. It's completely out of character,” Pardos, a Marine Corps veteran, told The Hill in a phone interview.
“I’ve had dinner at his house, worked out with him. This didn’t happen.”
Pardos, who has been interviewed by investigators, accused some of his former teammates of trying to cash in following Michigan State University’s $500 million settlement with dozens of sexual abuse victims of former MSU and USA Gymnastics physician Larry Nassar.
“After Larry Nassar, everyone is seeing dollar signs,” Pardos said.
Translation:
"I thought Strauss was weird but nothing happened."
I would think that if there was some inappropriate activity, it would likely have resulted in a punch in the nose for the team doctor, at least occasionally.
Jerry Sandusky and Larry Nasser preyed on younger stock.
Democrats are so obvious now that they don’t even hide it. They dig up the bones of someone that died 13 years ago to splash his blood on Jordan.

Someone who claims he was sexually abused as a 20-21 year-old collegiate wrestler by the team doctor is either lying, or he was involved in a consensual relationship.
I'd just wish Republicans had the balls to completely dismantle all of the left-wing programs and funding the moment they took over on Jan 20 2017.
This story (which is complete BS) may actually be useful. After all, if Jordan was supposed to know about the doctor’s activities, shouldn’t Hillary have known about the pedophile on her staff?

Labeling the Freedom Caucus as "Ultra-conservative" was the first clue for me. They are traditional conservative legislators which admittedly is in stark contrast to the RINOs inhabiting much of the legislative branch these days. Just because so many have sold out to industry, like most of leadership these days, doesn't mean they are ultra- anything.
Guys I know would say "This dog won't hunt" in regard to this elaborate scheme to tar a good man like Jim Jordan.

And, of course, if the doctor did act inappropriately, I am pretty sure a college-aged young man would be capable of handling the situation. Good grief! We are talking about college and not elementary school.
Completely agree. As a former wrestler myself, I think a punch in the nose would have been the least of the doctor’s injuries

My take, exactly. If Jordan was a student “assistant coach”, he was still a 20-year-old, and as such how was he allowed to be in the room when the old doctor was examining a teammate?
And, being a student, maybe he either didn’t know, or thought he had no “say so” concerning the official team Doctor.
That many years ago, people were not so obsessed with sex and homosexuality as they are today.
This is a nothing burger to try and keep Jordan out of the Speaker’s chair.
