Icebox. That is a strange word for an illegal to use IMO. I’m 70 and my mom would call the fridge an icebox because when she was young they had an icebox with a big block of ice to keep food cold. I’m not sure, is the word icebox used by the younger generation, specifically an illegal who is supposedly 15?
Where she is from,El Salvador, they may still use ice boxes.
I’m 67 and we had an icebox until I was around four. The older kids in my family used to call the refrigerator “the icebox”, the younger kids called it the fridge.
How the world changes.
Maybe they did have an icebox? I admit I didn’t even notice the strange use of the word. The word icebox for refrigerator still seems natural to me. Wonder what my grandkids think?
