Yes....you have it EXACTLY wrong Madeleine. As usual. Trump has it right - we are a sovereign country and have every right to defend our own borders - to determine who gets in and how many and when - to craft an immigration policy that serves our needs rather than anybody else’s (yes, this means a merit based system).
Europe needs to completely shut down the invasion by military age muslim men. They are destroying the social fabric of numerous countries while simultaneously draining their treasuries even faster than the socialist policies in place already would have and they are wrecking the security of those countries.
What both America and Europe need to do is exactly the opposite of what you want.
I don’t want to demand that from Europe. The fate of Europe is a ways from uppermost in my mind by I don’t hate Europeans and do not wish such misery upon them. I differ from Progressives in that respect.
Our elites all want dual US-EU citizenship for themselves. Many Euro-elites want it, too. A joint open borders policy brings that ideal closer - no matter whether the flyover rubes are hurt or not. Trump is messing with their dream.
