Franklin Roosevelt’s rapid conversion from Constitutionalism to the doctrine of unlimited government is an oft-told story. But I am here concerned not so much by the abandonment of states’ rights by the national Democratic Party — an event that occurred some years ago when that party was captured by the socialist ideologues in and about the labor movement — as by the unmistakable tendency of the Republican Party to adopt the same course. […] Thus, the cornerstone of the Republic, our chief bulwark against the encroachment (on) individual freedom by Big Government, is fast disappearing under the piling sands of absolutism.

The Republican Party, to be sure, gives lip service to states’ rights. We often talk about “returning to the states their rightful powers”; the Administration has even gone so far as to sponsor a federal-state conference on the problem. But deeds are what count, and I regret to say that in actual practice, the Republican Party, like the Democratic Party, summons the coercive power of the federal government whenever national leaders conclude that the states are not performing satisfactorily. …

The Conscience of a Conservative (1960), pp. 24-25
This was the state of affairs in the GOP for a very long time. And they were open about it back then as well.

Republican Party must first be destroyed before it can be rebuilt.

Oddly enough that is how I feel about the democrats.

One of the world’s leading authorities on armed conflict?

Hell, I’d take wisdom gleaned from a salty Lance Corporal with a couple of deployments over never served, Moscow born military theorist Max Boot.

As proof of the sort of sound thinking that produced this chairborne clown’s military theories, he advocates a surrender to the leftists as they are going through one of the periodic stages of violent extremism that they seem to require.

Boot is an authority on armed conflict, and now government? We just crawled through eight years of academic “authorities” on government being in charge.

Boot is a clown who can write.

as if this were still the party of Ronald Reagan and John McCain

No real Republican would use Ronal Reagan and John McCain in the same sentence. This guy is just another liberal. At least he can quite pretending and be himself. I wonder how many conservatives he voted for in all his years as a Republican. Zero?

He's one of the world's leading authorities on bleeding America dry - figuratively and literally - to fight other people's wars.

Funny how this comes out when the video of the homosexual guy saying he is leaving the Democrat party over their hate, and has started a campaign for others to do so, and is gaining ground.

Berkeley , works for CNN. Yea give me a break he is a republican, and to say the party of McCain LOL.
This reminds me when election year comes up and they have bumper stickers etc saying Republican for Obama or vets for obama when they were never a vet.
They always have to lie , and can never tell the truth to give the illusion there are more of them than there is.
