In his column encouraging President Trump to select his nominee to the Supreme Court from among the several names he mentioned during the 2016 campaign, it appears that Jonah Goldberg omitted an important fact regarding Trumps list.
In May 2016, when Trump issued his first list, there was already a list. In fact, there was actually a judge selected by a sitting U.S. president, whose nomination was stonewalled by Senate Republicans for nearly a year and finally abandoned.

LA LA Times is still “undermining democracy” by refusing to accept he result of a legitimate election because their harridan lost.
i am pretty sure Hillary would NOT have picked Garland as the nominee if she had won. Obama would have withdrawn his name the day after the election, and she would have picked a much more liberal choice.
That was the risk taken in rejecting Garland, getting a worse nominee. Obama had hoped that the fear of HRC picking would cause the republicans to give in.
Good one. LOL
oops, how did he get on there!!
“In fact, there was actually a judge selected by a sitting U.S. president, whose nomination was stonewalled by Senate Republicans for nearly a year and finally abandoned.”
Well, back at ‘ya.
But, hey, you can nominate Garland IF you get a President installed in 2025...he’ll only be 73 then.
Right, and the Cleveland Browns are the only legitimate wildcard selection, because they’ve missed the play offs so many times. And we need to give Seattle and Atlanta back their SB rings, that the Pats clearly stole, because the other teams had the game all but sewn up, before the unthinkable happened. Yeah, let’s do that.
You have to admire the mentality that says, when I win, you have to kowtow to me, but when I lose, you have to placate me and give me what I want. They behave as spoiled children with overly indulgent parents.
“the lamentation of the losers! “
Actually, its:
“and the Dewey Decimal System”
But, I’ll take it.
The beta cuck douchery is strong with this one.
Obama fans have only Obama to blame for that one. I was 95% certain Obama would pick some uber-RINO "Republican appointed judge" for SCOTUS (and/or a woman, gay judge, or minority that would "make history") so he could play politics and make it politically damaging to the Republicans to oppose the SCOTUS pick.
Instead, he picked ANOTHER bland ivy league white liberal Jew that Republicans could EASILY oppose without blinking.
Whoops!
It would be like George W. Bush trying to put Rick Santorum on SCOTUS in Dec. 2008, and then crying when the Democrat Senators simply ignore the nominee and don't play ball, and Obama (SHOCKINGLY!) withdraws the nomination and picks someone completely different in January 2009.
“....There’s only one legitimate nominee to the Supreme Court...”
... and it WON’T be Merrick Garland!!!
Elections have consequences.
We won. Suck on it.
The Senate rejected a Supreme Court nomination by George Washington--John Rutledge, who was a signer of the US Constitution and had served on the Court earlier. Barack Obama deserves greater deference than George Washington?
Las Vegas gamblers will pay 100 to 1 if he is put on the bench. This is a chance to make big money. As soon as my money from the Nigerian Prince comes in I am going to put it all on him.
I see what you did there! lol
That’s a lot of words wasted on something that there’s no chance in hell of ever happening, Geoffrey.
Bammy wanted to appoint Brian Sandoval but he declined.
Anyway I know just how these chumps feel, a few months ago I had 5 bucks fall out of my pocket or something. In the end I just had to let it go.
Elections have consequences, LAT.

This vid is mildly amusing, I’m surprised MSNBC made it.
The Rats LOVE political games like that, and would try to relentlessly pound the GOP senators with characters smears until they caved and agreed to a confirmation hearing.
Fortunately, Obama choose that useless cipher Garland, and the rest was history.
