as an ex-Canuck, this is old news. Canadastan doesnt operate the same way America does. We already knew this is how it’s been done. I know countless guys outside of the country who were scrutinized going back after a epriod of time. Ive said it again, if you think US border guys are aholes, Kanadian border people are worse than Soviet-era police.
Seems strange, coming from Canada......................
I know a guy who had one incident in college where he spent a night in jail. 20 years later on a vacation he crossed into Canada and was told he had a criminal record and could not proceed.
Turned out for a minor infraction such as his he was able to post a few hundred dollar bond and allowed into the country.
One of those trips I was coming into the U.S. in De Toilet very early in the morning, around 4am, the lone Customs officer asked where I'd been, and the drug questions. I was driving a large Chevy Van with no windows in the rear. She required me to pull over and open the back. She then poked the large olive green laundry bag near the rear. "What's this?" she asked. I told her, "my last weeks dirty laundry, would you like to open it up for inspection?" She could see a military style foot locker with my name stenciled on it, and several sets of starched and pressed Army uniforms on hangers on hooks in the back.
She decided wisely to not mess with my dirty clothes. Slowed me down maybe 15 minutes.
Flying into DTW from Asia was always a hassle too. They think everyone coming in from there is a drug mule.
