Best article defining Trump, I have read since he came down the elevator and announced his run.

I have said for long time Trump is more a true Conservative than those who have claimed to be so in America for the last 40 to 50 years.

Thanks for posting.

Trump represents a successful campaign addressing many of the issues raised by Pat Buchanan when he opposed George H.W. Bush. The party went the path of open borders, NAFTA, and global intervention.

Trump is a correction to that path.

Instead of Left vs. Right (large government, nanny state vs. traditional small government with small footprint), the game has changed with Trump.

This change has left many pundits (George Will) and politicians across the board confused.

The new political battle is between globalism and nationalism.

Globalism: open borders, mass migration unchecked, national and international courts rule rather than the people, distrust of democracy and even republics in favor of courts and rule by elites, dismisses value of borders and nations as fundamental organizing tools, dismisses USA’s unique position in history, dismissive of religion, wants one world government, uses ANY tool - climate change, appeals to emotionalism, Catholic church, MSM, Deep State, etc. - to accomplish goals. Suspicious of Free Speech rights as they are uniquely American and may oppose their party line. Opposed to free speech when it shines light on faults of globalism. Against Second Amendment rights as they make centralizing power difficult.

VS.

Nationalism: Borders are fundamental to protect our country, protection of national economy over traditional concerns of free trade, recognizes USA’s unique position in history and Christian traditions, forced to battle MSM, Deep State, etc. through First Amdenment. For Second Amendment as a fundamental check on government and unique American freedom. Wants trade deals, but only those that protect our national intrest, which includes American businesses and jobs. Okay with legal immigration with controls in place to prevent it from being a tool to destroy a nation. Recognizes each nation has unique qualities and strives to protect those posiitive qualities.

What we are seeing taking place is a fundamental paradigm shift of the multi-generational Left vs. Right model of political fights to Nationalism vs. Globalism.

EVERY topic viewed through the Nationalism vs. Globalism makes clear Trump is clearly a nationalist and it’s precisely why he was elected.

Key moments in the campaign: Trump bashing “unfair trade deals.” Deals that sent jobs overseas and failed to recognize to have a decent country we need good middle-class / working class jobs. When Trump triangulated and said Iraq War 2 was a mistake. He repudiated an entire generation of interventionist global neverending war policies. Those two moves won him the Rust Belt.

Trump knows we all learn from conflict. The Republican Party should have a war room and fight back too. A good debate is healthy and necessary in this country. We never move forward with repetitious mindless robotic talking points. The media
is responsible for a lower level of debate.

WE saw it coming. Most of those who voted for President Trump knew his potential and those of us who voted for him because he was the only choice have been completely and pleasantly surprised.

Love the man and what he is doing for the USA.

That was indeed an excellent article...thanks for posting.

I have often thought that one does not have to be devoutly religious to recognize the value of religion in the workings of a country, in much the same way one does not have to have children or be married to realize how valuable those things are to society.

And if a leader acts accordingly to accord religion, marriage, and children the support and respect they should get from a government (as opposed to outright hostility) I don’t think we can ask for more than that.

The artical claims Trump’s governing philosophy is like the Whigs, who “...believed in a strong active federal role in stimulating economic and industrial growth.”

That is horse shit. The only way Trump believes the federal government should stimulate economic and industrial growth, is in the Reaganesque sense, i.e., by getting off the backs of private citizens.

He is busy eliminating job killing taxes, regulations, subsidies and trade deals, and confronting all sorts of government abuses that fail to put the American people first.

It is utterly ridiculous to describe Trump’s philosophy as believing in a strong federal role - quite the opposite.

I agree with the article’s general claim that Trump is profoundly transformative, but this author doesn’t “get” Trump - not at all.

Trump is a highly effective leader who possesses a keen business sense of what works and what does not work, and who has the clarity and strength to forcefully eliminate practices that don’t work.

The American people, in general, share this no nonsense view, and that is why they respond to him so favorably.

The established leadership in both parties and in the globalist uniparty, are totally invested in their wrong-headed agendas and simply cannot accept that Trump has exposed them as fools and charlatans. They hate him for so easily brushing them aside and presuming to lead the way.

This no-nonsense, pragmatic approach is all about being street smart, being nobody’s fool and leads directly to limited government and individual liberty. In that sense, Trump’s philosophy is in the finest tradition of the founding fathers, and Americanism.

Best election ever.

I also believe Trump is the right man at the right time. We need 8 years of control in The WH and Congress for him to make the progress we need. We all need to vote and get others to vote in contested races.
