Adam Putnam comes from my county, where he replaced Charles Canady (now a justice of the FL Supreme Court) as congresscritter. I had him meet with my Ethics students about 20 years ago when he was just learning the GOP ropes, discussing conservative ideology from a philosophical perspective.

In a sense, I feel sorry for the man, since he has spent his life making his way up the political ladder the way conservatives were supposed to, only to have it cut out from under him in the disruption that is Trumpism. To mix metaphors, Putnam didn’t see the Trump train coming until it was too close and too fast for him to get out of the way and get on it. I hope he learns the Cruz lesson and supports De Santis when the latter runs against the Demwhoever in the fall.

“””Putnam has spent his life making his way up the political ladder”””

And that is Putnam’s weakness. All he has ever done is to be a professional politician.

Putnam is kinda like Debbie Wasserman Schultz who has spent her life being a politician.

On the other hand Ron DeSantis had a challenging career in the military before getting into politics.
