On 9/11, we would have been justified. Every known state sponsor of terrorism, every known terror training site should have reached 12,000 degrees before disappearing under mushroom clouds before the second tower ever collapsed.

The old, tired cycle depends on two wheels - and President Trump does not appear to me to be one of those old wheels.
I skeptical of why they would ever give up their nukes. They get them the attention they seek on the world stage and ensure their regime’s survival. I think Trump offered them diplomacy and an offramp. He offered them the possibility of opening their country up to the world, but in doing so, their people would be exposed to and demand freedom. Who among them would go to the South and not want that for the North? I suppose they could try to open up and at the same time maintain control like China does, but I don’t know if that would work there, and China obviously maintains a nuclear arsenal and powerful military.
I would love to see them denuclearize, and perhaps this is part of negotiations and posturing. I think we will have to wait to see where this leads. The lines of communication are open.
