There's also the difficulty of getting him confirmed when he vacates his Senate seat and the GOP loses his vote in the confirmation process.
Lee on the SC and Romney in the Senate would likely spell trouble for POTUS for the foreseeable.
He is a Senator until he is confirmed. He would vote for himself.
Mike lee, anti trump at convention, voted for dirtbag mcmuffin. No way.
“With his prior hostility to Trump I don’t see how Mike Lee could possibly be nominated.”
Lee, not in my top 5 but its worth considering in a couple respects. Good chance his senate replacement would not be such a vocal never-Trumper and one voice of constant criticism from there gone.
Secondly, I do believe he has good conservative instincts and would not violate those principles from the bench out of spite to stick it to Trump. Overall, the upside of a Lee pick would be mostly to silence an annoying voice in the Senate which is just not reason enough FOR the pick.
Personally, I favor Kethledge but will be fine with Barrett or Hardiman also. I trust President Trump’s instincts on this.
Fox News just said White House insiders want the open borders zealot Kethledge.
There is no reason why he cant vote for himself.
He would be harder to get confirmed because he has spoken out on too many topics--too much ammunition for the Democrats to use.
