Just one day before President Trump is set to announce his pick to replace retiring Supreme Court Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy in a primetime address from the White House, a top Democratic senator suggested that stopping the nominee is more important than the upcoming midterm elections.
Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., acknowledged that so-called red-state Democrats may be tempted to vote for Trump's selection out of political necessity, but urged his colleagues Sunday to consider more than their political careers.
"Beyond the procedure, beyond the gamesmanship, it is a life-and-death important decision to be made by this court on so many issues," the Senate minority whip said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
"The men and women that I work with on the Democratic side really take this seriously," he added, after host Chuck Todd raised the possibility that Democrats could lose their bid to retake the Senate by opposing the nominee. "They understand it's an historic decision. It's about more than the next election. It's about what future the United States of America is going to chart."

It’s easy for him to say. He represents a state that would elect Hitler before they’d ever send a Republican to represent them in the U.S. Senate.
He might also be signaling that the Democrats know that they aren’t going to take over control of the Senate after the 2018 election.
Turbin Durbin doesn’t have to worry. The brain dead of Illinios will continue to vote away their freedoms by electing him.
Yeah, like that’s gonna happen. Swamp dwelling Rats giving up their plush lifestyles and ticket to a lifelong gold mine for their principles. I’m sure if Durbin were running for reelection in W.Va. he’d chuck it all to delay Trump’s pick until after he was tossed out in January.

Here’s a better idea: The lib senators need to get out on the steps of the Capitol, douse themselves with some of that good. RAT-inspired, ethanol gasoline and set themselves a blaze in protest of the SCOTUS pick. Yeah, that’s the ticket. IF they’re gonna make a sacrifice, let em put their alligator mouths where their canary azzes are and make a real good one. Just do it. It would be sensational and all of America will appreciate your sacrifice beyond measure.

He’s willing to sacrifice other people’s political careers. That sounds just as courageous as somebody who is willing to fight to the last drop of somebody else’s blood.
