Lamborghini erupts into flames at gas station
WFAA ^ | 07/09/3028 | Ashley Cole

It looked like a scene from a movie this weekend at a gas station in Kirkwood, Missouri.

Emergency crews responded to the Mobil gas station at about 8 p.m. Saturday after a luxury car caught fire.

Photos have gone viral across social media of the blue Lamborghini engulfed in flames.

A video also posted socially appears to show what may have led to the fire. In the video, a van at a nearby pump drives off with the gas nozzle still attached to the car, pulling the hose away and spraying gas onto the Lamborghini.

Yeah and eat crow droppings, attack the source and deny the truth. Let me think, whose play book does that come from?

I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee catch on fire after the AC clutch seized and basically the belt fried itself.

Same thing happened on my CR-V. To be fair to Honda, it was a 1997, with original clutch and compressor, and it happened last fall, when the vehicle was 20.5 years old. So, I don't feel too bad about it. The compressor seized, then the clutch started sparking and smoking. I was actually trying to figure out if the system needed more refrigerant, and had the refill charging can hooked up. I figured there was an issue when the gauge on the can showed the pressure to be too high.

Thankfully, nothing else caught. And that year of CR-V has three separate drive belts for alternator, a/c compressor, and power steering, so once everything cooled down, I just reached in and cut the belt for the a/c off.

Nice trolling of the Gator, though.

This is all about recalls on present day Fords, not yesteryear’s. But that’s not what the Gator pointed out. No. The Gator had to light the “liberal” light.

Yes, it was a problem that was greatly exaggerated, like immigrant children separated from their mothers..........when it’s been done since the late 90’s.................

I remember a trip over the bald hills when Dad, my brothers and I all pissed in the radiator to get back to civilization.

I don’t have time to go read all of your liberal links.

Put up an argument and we can discuss.

1. The Lamborghini Huracán is arguably the second most beautiful car in the world....the first being the Bugatti Chiron.

2. Lamborghini is owned by Volkswagen.

The Chiron is not a beautiful automobile. Looks like left over Buick parts.

Almost 200,000 gas cars self-ignite in the US each year.

These stats show less than 200,000 total vehicle fires per year for several years (from 2009 to 2015). Prior to that, numbers were over 200,000 per year dating back to 1980 (which came in at over 450,000 car fires).

The numbers are not out of line, but the "self-ignite" part is debatable.

Speaking of burning cars, this guy tried to light his cigarette off his burning car and singed his eyebrows.

Aircraft employ a bonding wire to dissipate static charge during fueling. Cars have the metal nozzle of the gas hose. Fuel flowing generates static electricity. Can’t rule out a spark as a culprit.
