Rumor has it that Kennedy only agreed to retire if one of his clerks was nominated. Or only if B.K was nominated. Trump is a deal maker so I find this rumor believable. Not saying it is true, just plausible.
I have a hard time believing that, it's similar to a President making a deal with a potential appointment - I don't think either is appropriate and hope justices are above deal making - but that's just me.
This was a rumor started in a tweet by an NBC reporter based, she says, on only one source. She has since retracted the tweet, but the damage was done.
