Because where I live the farmers said they need more farmers, and that is why we should be taking the hard workers in.

Not being in the know, my superficial impression is that our farmers face heavy competition from Mexican and South American farmers who can grow food much cheaper, which seems to be what Americans want — cheap, not better. It is probably not an attractive business prospect to start a farm here.
