What's the matter with you, Variety magazine? I know you cover show business, but you're also a liberal publication so why would you want to kill the U.S. Senate campaign of Democrat Robert (Beto) O'Rourke in Texas by publishing about his treks to Hollywood to raise campaign money. Such methods of campaign financing are not exactly popular in the Lone Star State as witness what happened to another liberal Democrat, Wendy Davis, who used Hollywood cash in a failed attempt to become governor.
What should have been kept under the radar to help O'Rourke was foolishly revealed by Ted Johnson of Variety on July 9 in Beto O’Rourke, Seeking to Oust Ted Cruz, Returns to L.A. for Fundraiser:

Benito will not win. Why would a Texan vote for someone whose political ideology matches Warren/Schumer/Feinstein? He is a joke, throwing around F-bombs in public gatherings, thinking it makes him sound tough.
His latest fundraising trips to LA and NY demonstrates just how much he is loved in Texas.

Wouldn’t be an issue if there were a constitutional amendment either at state or federal level that would prohibit out of state funds for such elections.
If Beano, beaner, or whatever his name is can’t find enough people in Texas to donate to his campaign, then that’s his problem.
Cruz already won that senate seat and came in second among 18 politicians for the Republican presidential nomination. His wife could make a dozen phone calls from her study and shake more money free than Beto could if he spent a week in Hollywood. You Cruz haters make me laugh.
