Release the business license.

I've run a home improvement business for over twenty years, and have never had a business license. Not every business is required to have one.

If she was a really small time operator, she may not have even had a DBA, or a business banking account. I've known people who operated so far under the radar, they barely made a paper trail of any kind. It's not really being I'm business'. More like being self employed.

Most folks I know....will keep business records going back to twenty years, but I doubt that they’d go past that point.

My wife and I have kept every scrap of paper our business has ever generated, since day one, over twenty years ago.

At some point we may digitize it all, but we'll never toss the hard copies. Old dog - old tricks...

If she made any money she had to file taxes.

I used to know self employed guys in the construction business who worked by referral only, with no licenses or legal setup of any kind.

Most got paid by check, which they cashed in person at their cutomers' banks. They were careful to only deposit small amounts of cash in their personal bank accounts to stay below the IRS radar.

Okay, well I'd suggest if they run for office they should refrain from using their off the books businesses as a citation of their bona fides as a small businessman. Because it might raise questions. As it may have with this woman, if that's what was happening.

She is a TransBusiness Owner...She thought she was one, so we can't fault her, I mean if a white can be a black, a white can be Native American, a male can be female, she thought she was a business owner, so she must have been in her mind. 😀
