Anything for that Iran deal: How Obama threw national security (and troops' lives) out the window

n a major story that came and went, President Obama shut down a major drug operation run by Hezb'allah because he didn't want to upset Iran's mullahs and endanger his Iran deal. Seems the Iran deal was considerably more important to his "legacy" than any concern about drug-dealing, the opioid epidemic, or just the idea of putting terrorists who finance themselves through the global drug trade out of business.

Politico did the story about how Obama shut down Project Cassandra, so it should have gotten attention, yet it didn't. The whole thing recalls something security expert Rachel Ehrenfeld memorably told me in the wake of 9-11 many years ago: "All terrorism is narco-terrorism." For Obama, all national security was about protecting his "legacy."

Turns out that wasn't the only drug operation Obama shut down.

Politico's investigative reporter, Josh Meyer, has uncovered another load of mischief around drugs and "legacy"-making from Team Obama. Turns out the Obama administration shut down a similar operation targeted at the Taliban, not as directly as he did the Hezb'allah drug-dealing operation, but through failing to issue permissions and permits, effectively killing it off in the same passive-aggressive way Obama's IRS minions killed off the Tea Party. A full plan, called Operation Reciprocity, was in place to shut down the Taliban, same way President Bush and President Alvaro Uribe of Colombia shut down the FARC Marxist narco-terrorists, yet nothing came of it, because of Obama.

Obama was asked why he didn’t require that Iran stop funding Hezbullah and Hamas as part of the deal. He said he didn’t want to confuse those issues with Iran’s nuclear program. And yet he was perfectly willing to let Iran throw all kinds of nonsense side issues on the table, and pay them for the privilege.

And as for the payment, they said we owed them this money. That only makes so much sense. If we lifted sanctions and needed to give them their money why couldn’t we just wire it to Iranian banks? Why a plane full of dollars, euros and gold bullion? Why was the US paying in euros? It smells like corruption. Nobody knows where that money ended up and it would be real easy for Iranian emissaries to stuff their diplomatic cases with kickback cash to distribute to politicians around the world.

The idea of sending pallets of cash to the people who trained and financed the planting of thousands of IEDs in Iraq that killed and maimed American (and allied) service men and women is galling.

It is some consolation that this has added to the hatred of the Iranian clerical regime by the Iranian citizens. There was no accountability of where this money went, economic conditions have become worse, and they know America isn't the culprit.

I can respect that. Unfortunately, you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up. The dems may never run a NBC again the way they’re going.

Happy FReeping.

Hey Ted Cruz! (pretend constitutional conservative)

How do you feel about signing on to that deal with the devil(s) now dimwit?

We dodged a huge bullet by not electing that clown.

Small consolation. Obama saved all their families. Not that I would condone a revolution that attacked families, just that when they eventually do fall they will all live luxury lifestyles in Zurich.
