Rosenstein Asks Prosecutors to Help With Kavanaugh Papers in Unusual Request
The New York Times ^ | July 11, 2018 | Katie Benner

WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, according to a letter obtained by The New York Times on Wednesday.

Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. While the Justice Department has helped work on previous Supreme Court nominations, department lawyers in Washington typically carry out that task, not prosecutors who pursue criminal investigations nationwide.

But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each office to provide up to three federal prosecutors “who can make this important project a priority for the next several weeks.” Names were to be submitted to Mr. Rosenstein’s office by the end of Wednesday.

Every day the DOJ demonstrates that it is the center of the “Resistance.” Is there nothing to far that will finally motivate Sessions to take action? Probably not and then it will fall to Trump to do what he should have done a year ago and fire the lot of the coup plotters. If he will not, the bleeding from a thousand cuts and the intimidation of anyone who wants to help Trump will continue.

I heard a rumor that Kavanaugh occasionally asks for Russian Dressing for his salad, that Muller is going to indict him for collusion. (just joking, but it may come true)

Is this routine background check like thing? Or did a senator or senators ask for the Just Us department to investigate Kavanaugh?

After reading the full article, it looks like Trump might have ordered this - He is getting the DOJ ready to submit any docs the Democrats request in a quick manner, so they can get this through the Senate quickly.

I read it too but didn’t see anything that suggested what you posted. Can you point out what you’re referring to?

You’re right.

This cancer needs to be cut out of our Government, and these people need to be held account for their misdeeds.

If Trump needs to take heat for it - so be it. There’s less danger in that than letting these people continue to act in positions of authority.

That's not how it works.

You accuse your enemy of something they cannot disprove.

Like the pee allegations.

Read the quote the NY Times provides carefully.

"“It’s flat-out wrong to have career federal prosecutors engaged in a political process like the vetting of a Supreme Court nominee,” said Christopher Hunter, a former F.B.I. agent and federal prosecutor who is running for Congress. “It takes them away from the mission they’re supposed to be fulfilling, which is effective criminal justice enforcement.”

The NY Times's only quote person - a Democrat running for congress - is whining that the FBI is allocating so much resources to help vet Trump's Nominee. If this was against USSC, they would be praising this.

That sounds an awful lot like a brand new Special Prosecutor's investigation.

In the mean time, the persons reputation is destroyed, and he or she is not confirmed.

Whatever they have on Sessions must be a doozie. His reputation is essentially gone and he obviously doesn’t care or he would resign. I guess his mission is more important.

Did Rosenstein come up with this idea himself?

This is bizarre.

It sounds as if Rosenstein is demanding that U.S Attorney’s do opposition research for the Democrat party.

"...the day after the Mueller report is released."

You nailed it. Trump is handcuffed by "interfering because the noose is tightening!" accusations until then.
