Sorry - I got it mixed around. But your point is valid - vets seem to have the process down pat. I’m sure if you asked for volunteer vets to put down those convicted of a capital crime there would be a line out the door.

” vets seem to have the process down pat. “

If you go and look at botched human executions, most of the problems were not related to the drugs but to human or equipment problems.

Most were either problems with finding a suitable vein or the needle coming out.

“ok - so if Fentanyl works for horses, what prohibits its use on humans?”

Fentanyl is the number one approved drug for human executions. It is presently approved by Nevada for this execution.

Good point, most horses are bigger/heavier than most people, so while the excuse may be made that folks are bigger/heavier than a poodle, the response can be made that it works on a horse/cow/pig.

This whole ‘death by drug’ thing is total nonsense. Just give him a lethal dose of morphine. He’ll feel no pain, just go to sleep. End of story.

I’m sure there are people out there like that.

I can’t side with them. If a person commits a capital crime, a capital crime punishment it is.

I don’t think those family members are doing the deceased family member any favors, and society at large pays the price as the deterrent effect is eroded even more than it already has been.

In effect they are saying, well sure you took the life of our family members, but hey, we don’t want to be vindictive.

No, be vindictive for all of us.

I am confused by your post. Fentanyl is much more lethal than morphine.

My point is that there is no need for exotic drugs. Mainstay drugs like Fentanyl or morphine will do the job just fine. JUST DO IT!

Bring back hanging. Cheap, efficient.

The state can make their own.

Give the condemned a .223 lethal injection. Five doses administered all at once should be sufficient. By hime the shock induced numbness wears off he will be too dead to feel the intense pain that follows.

Then smother him with nitrogen.

That really is the best way. It's completely non-toxic. You don't have to beg drug companies for anything. It's quick and painless so the crapheads who worry about such things can't even complain.

Why not use the drugs that are used for medically-assisted suicide? We’re told it’s more humane than natural death.

(Rhetorical question!)
