The Foreign Ministry summoned the Irish ambassador to Israel, Alison Kelly, following the passage of a BDS bill by the Irish Senate. Ambassador Kelly will be reprimanded by the ministry.
The so-called Occupied Territories Bill outlaws the trade of goods from Judea and Samaria and imposes prison sentences and heavy fines on those who do not comply with the law.
Jerusalem is awaiting the return of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu from Russia before holding a meeting on taking further steps against the Irish move.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry issued a response to the Irish decision saying that the Irish Senate has given its hand to an aggressive, dangerous and radical populist anti-Israel boycott initiative that undermines prospects for a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians.

Upset that Israel is more powerful than they are; all they have are potato guns.
Like abortion and gay marriage, Israel-bashing is favorite cause of international leftism which is ascendant in Ireland. Just as the country has gleefully adopted the former two, it has now turned its attention to the latter.
Interesting how Christian nations slam Israel from where Christianity came from.
Ireland was not like that when it was more of a Christian nation. No Christian nation would vote for homosexual “marriage” and abortion in public referenda.
I thought Ireland voted for abortion.
That’s right. Therefore, they are no longer a Christian nation, although the homosexual “marriage” referendum actually solidified that fact beforehand.
Ireland is no longer a Catholic, let alone a Christian nation. They sold their hard won independence from the UK for some cheap promises from Brussels. The Irish have become fools and will regret their loss, if they remember it at all.
Oh, it’ll catch up to them eventually. This drought they’re having they will probably blame on “global warming”, though.
Israel should have expelled him.
Ireland isn’t a Christian nation anymore. It’s a post-Christian, pagan nation. The overwhelming votes in favor of gay marriage and abortion proved that beyond a reasonable doubt.
What the hell happened to Ireland?
Several decades in the European Union.
Similar effect happened in their neighbor to the east, but far stronger than they want to admit.
I hate Ireland. I really do.
I don’t, since my mother’s from there and I used to live there (as do several of my extended family members still), but I hate what it’s become. My late father would not find it amenable or perhaps even safe these days, to be sure.
The Micks are nothing but a bunch of terrorists, just like HAMAS, PLO, and FATAH.
Kill’em all and let GOD sort’em out.
So you want to kill my family on my mother’s side?
What’s most stunning about this is Ireland’s seemingly total lack of memory of centuries of Briish repression. I’m not saying the British weren’t doing what they thought was necessary to keep the peace, but you can’t deny they were pretty brutal to the Irish. It’s no wonder ‘the troubles’ were so vicious.
There was brutality on both sides. The Irish are not guiltless. There is plenty of anti-British propaganda about Churchill and what he did to stop the communists from rising up into power there, don’t forget, particularly when it came to the Black and Tans.
I certainly don’t disagree. I regarded the IRA as being a terrorist organization very similar to the PLO. It’s just that given that history, you’d think they’d be more sympathetic to the Israelis. But, given what I’ve just written, maybe they have greater fellow-feeling for the Palestinians. As the great philosopher Anonymous said, “People are weird.”
