In An Unusal Request Rod Rosenstein Asks Federal Prosecutors to Help With Kavanaugh …WTH?

What is Rosenstein up to now?

And where is AG Sessions??

In an unusual request, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein asked federal prosecutors to help review documents of President Trump’s SCOTUS nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.

Rosenstein’s email subject line sent to 93 US Attorney’d read, “Personal Message to U.S. Attorneys From the Deputy A.G.,” and included the sentence, “We need your help in connection with President Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to serve on the Supreme Court.”

The New York Times reported:

Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, according to a letter obtained by The New York Times on Wednesday.

Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. While the Justice Department has helped work on previous Supreme Court nominations, department lawyers in Washington typically carry out that task, not prosecutors who pursue criminal investigations nationwide.

But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each office to provide up to three federal prosecutors “who can make this important project a priority for the next several weeks.” Names were to be submitted to Mr. Rosenstein’s office by the end of Wednesday.

Mr. Rosenstein’s email, which had the subject line “Personal Message to U.S. Attorneys From the Deputy A.G.,” included the sentence, “We need your help in connection with President Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to serve on the Supreme Court.”

According to Christopher Hunter, a former FBI agent and federal prosecutor, “It’s flat-out wrong to have career federal prosecutors engaged in a political process like the vetting of a Supreme Court nominee...

It’s amazing that the DOJ can’t get requested/subpoenaed documents to Congressional Committees in a timely manner, but are now tripping over themselves in order to comply with this request?

This would only make the Establishment Republicans who support Kavanaugh go against Mueller/Rosenstein.

There should be a special cell at GITMO for Rosenstein.

So did Sessions recuse himself from this too? The man is as worthless as tits on a transvestite. He is rapidly becoming the worst Republican AG in history. What an ass. What a pussy. What a waste. Trump’s single glaring mistake.

Trump is great at action and then rapidly correcting any mistakes that come from it. He does not stubbrnly push his mistakes and hope things work out. When mistakes happen, Trump is masterful at identufying them, ownong them, and fixing the.

I am DUMFOUNDED why Trump has not yet corrected the Crippling Jeff Sessions mistake. And don’t tell me the GOP-e wonn’t confirm Sessions’s replacement. Trump can easily bully/shame the GOP-e into submission. Ultimately, they are wimps

I think Trump and Sessions are trying to find a way to keep Obama holdovers in Main Justice from sabotaging things by dragging their feet on document production for the Kavanaugh nomination. They don’t want to let the holdovers and the dems delay things until after the election.

How can the Democrats delay the confirmation process? I would think that the Judiciary Chairman, Grassley, controls the timing of the confirmation process.

What Rosenstein is really saying is that "we no longer can abuse the FISA courts to harvest everything and anyone Kavanaugh touched or said and to whom, so we have to abuse another process illegally to do what we do, and for whom we do it for"

Telling however. Now the 93 offices can ignore real work.

The obvious answer is that Trump needs to avoid even the slightest hint of an obstruction of justice claim that could be used against him in any possible impeachment trial. This is why Mueller and Rosenstein still also have their current employment. The old adage of "show me the man, I will find you the crime" is in full force.

Further proof that Rod Rosenstein is the A.G., not Sessions.

Overtly working for the demi-rats and no one has anything to say?????????

With the help of Jeff Sessions they have President Trump in a corner for now.

Anything he does to clean up the criminal mess in the FBI and DOJ will result in democrats and the democrat media screaming that he is meddling
and trying to shut down Mueller's Russian Collusion investigation for the purposes of covering up his own collusion with the Russians.

That would include firing Sessions and Rosenstein.

It is easy to see now that the entire process leading up to the appointment of Mueller as Special Counsel was planned out and coreographed by Comey,
Rosenstein and others at a higher level to provide a way to box the president in.

The extent of Jeff Sessions' paricipation and his motivation are unknown but his recusal was the key element in setting the president up.
And his ongoing inaction against the plotters ties the presidents hands and keeps the criminals in power.

And that is why Mueller needs to keep the investigation going and trying to make it appear that he is making progress.

If the investigation folds they lose most of their leverage against the President and give him the freedom to clean out the rats nests in the FBI and DOJ.

I suspect the President is biding his time and will make his move after the November election.

Trump just got another Assistant AG confirmed but even with that one done still IIRC more than half of the Assistant AG slots are not yet Trump appointees. Here a year and a half later.

The Democrats in the Senate will require to see all of Kavanaugh’s papers while he served in government. Normally Main Justice lawyers (in other words, Obama holdovers) will process those for things like executive privilege, national security information and so forth.

Sessions is bringing in more troops from the field back to HQ in order to get the documents out more quickly and not let lawyers in Main Justice drag their feet on document processing which might jeopardize getting Kavanaugh confirmed before the Supreme Court term starts in October.

The Democrats don't have the power to "require" all the Kavanaugh papers.

As I said in my previous post to you, I believe it is up to the majority chairman Senator Grassley to determine when the committee votes and I know that it only requires 51 votes on the floor to end debate.

WTF were OBAMA “holdovers” allowed to stay in the Trump Administration? In essence Obama has a third term with many of his people running our DOJ, FBI and who knows how many in other agencies.

Grassley isn’t going to arbitrarily change the way the Senate committee process works.

Republicans got to see the papers of Kagan and Sotomayor in their confirmations.

Democrats will be allowed to see the papers of Kavanaugh.

I hear what you are saying, but you are talking about the Republicans that rolled over, said elections have consequences, and consented to the most unqualified SCJ confirmations in history?

It is really a conflict of interest for a member of the Justice Department, which is basically the criminal prosecution arm of the Federal Government to participate in the vetting of a potential Judge or Justice who would be appearing before that judge in later court proceedings.

Technically if Rosenstein goes forward with this insane proposal he could make it impossible at some point in the future for any member of the Justice Department to make an appearance before the Supreme Court. Every time a case would reach that level, the president would have to appoint a special counsel to argue the government’s case before the Supreme Court.

Rosenstein should be fired for merely for suggesting that the Justice Department participate in this process. This is sheer insanity.
