Russian is destabilizing Iran, Syria, Iraq, and Turkey, for one reason: so they can dominate European gas supply.
That is also why the Russians are being aggressive in Eastern Europe.
That is also why the Russians are supporting the anti-fracking meme.
Gas is what motivates Russia.
For now. But Russia also knows they could make even more money selling natural gas to China, a country that could use it to drastically reduce the air pollution in their cities. I wouldn’t be surprised if Russia and China builds a massive pipeline system to transport natural gas into China through Mongolia and northeastern China.
