Not everything Abbott does is golden. While he was the best option we had (and has been several whole flights of stairs up over Islamist Rick Perry) he still is a big cement obstacle in the way of bringing civil forfeiture reform to Texas.

This is one of those not golden moves.

That's all fine and good, but if the place gets staffed with an abundance of locals, most of whom are strident liberals, there are going to be problems.
