WeWork is banning meat
CNN Money ^ | July 13, 2018 | Sara Ashley O'Brien

WeWork is going meat-free and taking every one of its employees with it.

The startup cited environmental concerns in announcing its immediate company-wide ban on meat. In an email sent Thursday, WeWork cofounder Miguel McKelvey told his 6,000 or so employees the company will no longer serve meat at employee events or reimburse them for meals that include red meat, poultry and pork.

It's a bold move for the real estate behemoth believed to be worth $20 billion -- and the most assertive in a series of recent steps large companies have taken to promote sustainability.

[[The startup cited environmental concerns in announcing its immediate company-wide ban on meat.]]

Yeah because one little company is going to change the climate 100 degrees overnight- what a virtue signaling move on their part-

Pssst- Wework- man isn’t causing climate change- not even one infinitesimal iota

[[It’s a bold move for the real estate behemoth believed to be worth $20 billion]]

Correction- it’s an idiotic self-sanctimonious move

I feel like going to Ruth’s Chris in their honor.

From the article:

the company will no longer serve meat at employee events or reimburse them for meals that include red meat, poultry and pork.

Closely read, that means the Cowboy Ribeye is reimbursable, since, although it includes red meat, it contains neither poultry nor pork, yet the company prohibition requires all three be present to fail reimbursability. Actually, a quick scan of Ruth's Chris's dinner menu turns up no selection which includes the required three, namely red meat, poultry, and pork.

I see the milliennial-looking author is a graduate of the Columbia School of Journalism. Apparently, they don't teach close reading (or precise writing) there anymore.

I hope every client of the company helpfully orders a steak when being wined and dined by salesmen.

(In other words, the policy will drift off into the corner in short order to be replaced with ‘our people can’t order red meat, pork or poultry.’)

Or, you know, they can stick to their guns and have their sales people swallow $400 meals or go full Democrat lunatic and lose sales.

The socialists want, IMO, to make us weaker physically less able to fight.

It’s no surprise to me that the Obama administration did everything they could for 8 years to make meat more expensive & difficult to purchase.

So ... if the whole world became vegetarian, we’d have to slash and burn the rain-forests to have enough farm land, and have to ignore the fact that you can feed cows and chickens stuff we can’t eat, and get milk and eggs in return. Smart. Very smart.

Salad Bar Truckstands. Sell food by the pound without cooking any of it. Charge more than the real food truckstands, because people pay more to feel good and good about themselves.
