Leftist ideologues live in an alternate universe, a product of their hallucinations of an America that does not exist except in their own demented thinking.

The latest manifestation of this delusional perception is Eugene Robinson's opinion piece in the Washington Post on July 5. Here is some of what he said:

Racism is a feature of the Trump administration, not a bug[.] ...

We have not seen such overt racism from a president since Woodrow Wilson imposed Jim Crow segregation in Washington and approvingly showed "The Birth of a Nation," director D.W. Griffith's epic celebration of the Ku Klux Klan, at the White House.

As an American whose ancestors were African slaves, I hate racism. Yet I can say without apology, I love President Trump and the direction he has set for our country. I am convinced that the president and most Americans who voted for him also hate racism.

Promise UNkeepers. The left has been promising everything for years and nearly always fails to deliver and then blames conservatives. Times up assclowns. The deceiving needs to end. Thanks Mr. Jackson. But, be careful, you may be tossed in with the likes of Walter Williams, Larry Elder, and other uncle Toms. Not bad company though.

In the 1850’s the Democrats were the party of not only maintaining slavery in the South, but expanding slavery to the Western territories. Justice Taney ( Dred Scott) was appointed by that democrat icon and paragon of diversity Andrew Jackson. The opposition Whig party was split on slavery, one faction ambivalent, the other abolitionist. This split, along with efforts by the democrats to make sure states created out of the Western territories were slave states caused the Republican party to split from the Whigs and eventually led to the election of Lincoln. The Republican party was generally in favor of black civil rights, including the right to vote, up until the “Progressive” era of the early 1900’s.
