The regime came down in 2011 as the result of the Obama administration’s policies that opposed the Gadhafi government and backed Islamist rebels.

So Bush got him to give up his nukes, then Obama took advantage of his weakened state to come in and kill him. Think NK doesn't look at this and think: Sure, maybe I could trust Trump, but how can I trust whatever Democrat will inevitably follow him? When a Democrat betrays a leader that Republicans had learned to deal with (I'm no historian, but I bet the Shah of Iran fell into that category) they teach the world that America will always turn on you.
