Establishment GOP donors in Tennessee resisting Marsha Blackburn's Senate campaign
Washington Examiner ^ | 7-14-18 | David M. Drucker

Rep. Marsha Blackburn is meeting resistance from wealthy Republican donors in Tennessee, an establishment-oriented crowd more comfortable with former Gov. Phil Bredesen, the conservative firebrand’s Democratic opponent in the state’s competitive, closely watched Senate race. Republican financiers, titans of industry in Tennessee, are still gloomy about the retirement of Sen. Bob Corker, a conservative pragmatist. Many are sitting on their wallets as the crucial, 100-day mark to the midterm elections approaches. After a lifetime raising millions of dollars for GOP causes and candidates, some are even donating to Bredesen, whom they view as a centrist who will buck Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. “He’s been somebody who is not partisan who gets things done. That appeals to me and to many other Republicans. We want somebody who is not an ideologue and not going to be partisan,” Tom Cigarran, a veteran GOP donor in Nashville, told the Washington Examiner Friday in a telephone interview. “Marsha Blackburn just isn’t that. She does not have a record of doing anything other than being a partisan ideologue.”

I don't post this to be negative, but the Senate is far from a sure thing for the Republicans. They are big trouble in Tennessee as Blackburn is down by double digits. They are trailing in NV and AZ as well. In more competitive races that were supposed to sure Republican pick ups in MT, ND, IN, WV and MO, the incumbent Democrats hold small leads.

I firmly believe this due a lack of enthusiasm of Trump voters for the Republicans. There is very little difference between the GOPe and the Democrats.

AG Hawley is up 2 over Mother McCaskill in MO. Remington Research Group poll. But worried about W Va. and of course, TN.

Bredesen appeared to be a centrist because the Republicans controlled the Senate and the governor’s power in Tennessee is limited. Marsha has a comfortable lead at this point.

RINO’s expect conservatives to support any GOP nominee no matter how “progressive”. But defeat them in a primary and they consistently support the Democrats. Their duplicity has cost the Republican Party many seats over the years.

These establishment GOP that prefer a Democrat in this environment should be disbarred from any future participation. Grotesque. Your overall assessment is too gloomy. We’ll pickup a minimum of 2. That’s a pessimistic outlook.

per article: "the retirement of Sen. Bob Corker, a conservative pragmatist"

LOL. Corker is a waterboy for the open borders Deep State and multinational agribusiness. Dontcha know gotta have more Somalians and Mexicans for the chicken and pork producers.

Corker has a smirk to rival Strzok. I wonder how people like him sleep at night after selling out their neighbors and countrymen to the highest bidder? Despicable human being.

Bush League Republicans hell bent on turning the USA into North Mexico still run the GOP, NRSC, NRCC and most state GOP parties.

They only want amnesty Senators, they don’t care what jersey they wear.
As long as they prevent US from electing anyone who would side with the citizens and the rule of law they still win.

Exactly. This article doesn’t know what it’s writing about because Corker is synonymous to GOPe RINOs.

You are correct. Therin lies the problem. The Rich in America control the system. If the poor of all Americans we could come together and clean up DC. Trump is rich I suppose but he is too much for the average American to suit the rich and powerful.

#2: "But worried about W Va. and of course, TN."

Manchin probably is going to keep his seat. Last poll had him way ahead. He actually can be made to vote with President Trump on many issues. Where he diverges is on health care. Federal medicaid money is going to be nonnegotiable for Manchin.

Sad to say, so many West Virginians depend on medicaid and subsidies for their health. There are a lot of disabled people in West Virgina. Some are from industrial reasons like black lung. Some are caused by poor lifestyle choices like uncontrolled diabetes and smoking, also drug addiction and alcohol abuse. Some are morbidly obese. And some are flat out grifters.

But anyone who says he's going to take away their health care is committing political suicide. Sad, but that's the reality.

Corker is no conservative and no poplarist.
He is a RINO, pure and simple.

Corker was

Tennessee is not a conservative state. Tennessee is a Republican state. Theestablishment Republicans aways defeat or do in the conservative Republican by electoral chicanery

In East Tennessee, the conservative Davis was elected to the congress out of a field including establishment Republicans. Two years later, the establishment Dr Phil Roe having no other republican opposition handily defeated the conservative Davis.

That is, Tennessee is Republican but not conservative.

I get the complaint.
Titans of Big Business want Senators to do their bidding.
But folks, that is as it should be.
States should appoint Senators, that would have Titans selecting their Favorite Son.
The House is where The People speak.
ALL SPENDING BILLS ORIGINATE IN THE HOUSE.
That is as it should be too.

Corker a while ago said that he supported Blackburn’s candidacy but made clear his backing came with limits.

For instance, he has ruled out campaigning for the congresswoman in any way that would require him to be critical of Bredesen.

What a sh*tstain.

this is a bullsh*t story. With ONE, I repeat, ONE stupid and traitorous source thats willing to go on the record about where he is willing to put his personal money, the hysterical reporter weaves a conspiracy story — that many at FR are too willing to immediately buy into.
