As I clean each piece, I wonder about who wore it, where they were when they wore it, how their life went afterwards, etc.

The stories they could tell...

Indeed!

I do know a story or two that go with the sailor who donated one batch of uniforms because he's friend of mine. One story is that he took part in an atomic bomb test and he's going to donate the participation certificate he received. He's getting it framed before he takes it to the museum.
As far as I know, he doesn't glow in the dark. :-)

Another story is he's had a good life since leaving the Navy. He married a sweet, beautiful woman and raised a family. A happy story.

Most of the uniforms most likely have good stories but there are bound to be a few that don't.
