For those who want to actually know what Putin is trying to do to Browder you need to read his book “Red Notice”. Browder legally made $1.5B trading oil stocks before they exploded in value after the fall of the Soviet Union. When Putin found out that a Jewish foreigner had the audacity to do this in his mother Russia he tried to steal it back from the Hermitage fund. When Browder got wind of this he liquidated the fund and paid back his investors. So Putin did the next best thing and stole the corporate seals from Hermitage so he could create a fraud in its name and frame Browder for the crime. Sergei Magnitsky was the Hermitage lawyer who refused to lie about the fraud and ended up dead. Which is what Browder will end up if the WH is stupid enough to go along with Putin’s cynical trick.
I don’t think you understand what Putin proposed. He said that Russians could observe the questioning of Browder and others but in the US, not in Russia. Sure, Putin would like to extradite Browder but that won’t happen.
Screw him.
So then no problem, the investigation will be in and under US control. If he is innocent, what’s the big deal? Russia has criminal charges against him and we have an agreement with Russia to cooperate on these kind of investigations. It’s our obligation to honor our agreements.
