The Trump/Putin Summit Is the Worst Thing Ever Until the Next Worse Thing Ever
Townhall ^ | 19 Jul 2018 | Kurt Schlichter

Here’s a secret everyone knows: this Trump/Russia/Treason thing is nonsense. The Russians will do whatever they can to destabilize our country, and have been trying since long before Teddy Kennedy actually did collude with the Reds against Ronald Reagan. Of course they want to destabilize us. They’re Russians. But now we are getting a ration of insanity about it from a bunch of people who only discovered that Ivan is bad news about the same time Stumbles McMyTurn lost. When they are yelling that Donald Trump’s press conference was (Pearl Harbor + 9/11) x 1,000,000, forget about raising any legit grievances with Trump’s performance. We’re not playing their game.

Why bother with reason? It’s kind of hard to have a rational discussion with people screaming “traitor” and “treason,” especially when they have been screaming “traitor” and “treason” for the last 18 months and we’ve seen no traitoring or treasoning. But the facts don’t deter them. Trump’s clearly Putin’s puppet because he just pounded on NATO to carry its own ruck and increase defense spending to counter…wait for it…Russia. Apparently strengthening NATO is playing right into Putin’s cunning claws. And giving grief to the krauts for doing a gas pipeline deal with the Bear…that was horrible too, for some reason. Giving lethal aid to Ukraine, cruise missiling Russia’s pal Assad, and whacking 200 Russian mercs in Syria…none of that matters because none of it supports the official narrative. Trump’s actions are indisputably exponentially harsher on Russia than anything Obama did, but citing that evidence and those facts is now itself evidence of collusion.

What the neocons and Dems fail to understand in ginning up their Russia hysteria is this:

Yes, I supported the Cold War. But I did so not because I hated Russia or Russians, but because I hate socialism/communism. As a result, I dislike the socialist wing of the GOP and the entire Dem Party, and don't trust their instincts or blather on anything.

The Dems keep pushing the Russia collusion nonsense because it’s all they’ve got. If there were to adopt any kind of reasonable view of Trump’s relationship with Putin what are they going to impeach him for? Trump University?

Nope. They started digging this hole the day Hillary conceded and they do not understand the Rule of Holes.

This was different...because even non-neocons voiced criticism (albeit in a non-hysterical fashion.)

Russia may not be communist, Putin promotes a twisted understanding of his country’s own role in history. Especially 20th Centurh history. He helped make Stalin popular again.

Russia resents American prowess in the world and does not understand freedom yet is fascinated by the democratic process. Hence their meddling. This is at the root for many of its behaviors today.

I point this out. It does NOT mean I support a nuclear war or think Trump can’t make deals with Putin.

These are all valid points, and Trump having to walk back what he said at the press conference didn't help either.

Nonetheless, I don't trust the intel community. Sometimes its interests align with the interest of a free people, sometimes they don't:

I bought stock in Orville Redenbacher.

Gotta say I’m making a handsome return.

Can’t wait til next week to learn the new outrage...

Meanwhile, we continue to rack up the wins.

4.5% GDP

SCOTUS

Tax cuts

Job market is extremely tight....for employers

Federal Judiciary

Pardoning the right people who were unjustly persecuted.

Looks like the stock market is now above 25,000...a new record.

Rolling back...No lighting a flame to regulation after regulatrion

Apparently he doesn’t like handshake deals like Paris Accord and Iran Deal

TPP? Nada

Tax policy, which I argued for years and was even spat upon by someone I thought was a rational adult, enabled and motivated companies to repatriate some $300 Billion Dollars back into the USofA. Oh, and that dick is still wrong about tax policy and now it’s been proven.

Promoting Fair trade and will ultimately get it. We are the United States and we have more of everything and will outlast evey single country, who will eventually have to agree to Fair Trade. And those Bozos at Harley Davidson are lying partisan weasels.

I think opening up Cuba is a good thing but, I don’t care if he rolls back anything Obama did. So I’m agnostic on this and now that it’s harder to travel to Cuba again, I actually want to go.

Progress on the wall and

Progress on Immigration reform

Jacking that boy band MS-13 up

blocked $9 million to Mexico which was being used for abortions.

Sent Russia, Iran, Syria and Lil Kim a message a couple time.

Wiped out 200 mercernaries Russia hired

Who is Al Qaeda?

I guess NASA is going back to playing with space toys and is no longer a moslem outreach agency. Sad Face...

Actually got Lil Kim to sit down and talk, presented two different futures for NorKo

Heck, we got back three hostages I didn’t even know Lil Kim had. Would Jebbie Downer Bush have been able to accomplish that? Not even in between naps.

We are severely messing up Iran with new and improved sanctions.

Permanent Tax cuts? Yeah, I’m down with that.

I could spend a lot of time chalking up victories but, if DJT keeps going at his current’ pace he’s going to run of things to do and might get bored....

I don't trust the intel community.

Liars abound indeed. But enemies within does not negate enemies without. It's a tricky balance. Having to fight both. And Trump has to find it.

Same thing applies to NATO and such. We have to address flakey and unreliable friends. But that doesn't mean dropping the friendships carte blanche or that what bonded us in the first place is suddenly irrelevant.

At crucial moments or trials in the future, those memories from the past may need to be drawn upon...for strength, for wisdom, for moving forward. History matters.

From the article:

Let’s assume Donald Trump is a secret Putin pawn – is there anyone who can count to 20 with his shoes on who thinks Mike Pompeo, John Bolton, or Mad Dog Mattis would tolerate that?

“Why bother with reason?”......…”this Trump/Russia/Treason thing is nonsense.”...……..

There’s more truth to those statements than fiction. Trump could have just stayed right here on American soil and the liberals would have a hissy fit, no matter what he did or might do. Remember the “pile on” game?

“Russia may not be communist, Putin promotes a twisted understanding of his country’s own role in history. Especially 20th Centurh history. He helped make Stalin popular again.”

I agree regarding Putin (and get especially annoyed by his defenders implying that he’s not Communist. Just look at his speech regarding the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students Communist thing back in October 2017, or even the fact that he proudly claimed that he keeps his KGB card).

However, I’m hesitant as to say whether Russia may not be communist even ignoring Putin, mostly because they DO still keep Lenin’s tomb up, not to mention the Karl Marx statue on Teatralyana Square is clearly still present (had they truly renounced Communism, don’t you think they would have shut them down, and in the case of Lenin’s mummified corpse, hung it from a street lamp?). I know if I were Russia and I renounced Communism, I would have made SURE to get rid of those two things.
